No, Hillary. If you want to end war, you have to stop funding war!!!

Supplying arms to factions that you have identified as opposing ISIS sounds good, but the truth is, once you ship arms over there, there's no telling in whose hands they will wind up. A lot of the money and material we send winds up in the hands of ISIS, so in effect it is the US that becomes one of the main causes of the escalation!

The saddest thing is that we've been down this road before. We know funding insurgents in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, etc. always leads to more war, more chaos. Which then always opens the door to the idea of the US having to get involved to supposedly fix the situation.

But on second thought, could it be that's the goal of Hillary and the neocons - could it be they don't really want peace in the region - that they actually want chaos in the short term? Increased chaos gives the US the excuse it needs to maintain an active and permanent military presence - and therefore control - over increasing parts of the region. Which does in the end benefit us politically, and economically, if we are worried that Russia and China are trying to increase their spheres of influence over there, too. It may sound twisted to those of us who are peace-loving, but don't be naïve - this is exactly how imperialists think!

I suspect you all know this analysis is more or less correct. Then the question for you is, are you going to vote for an imperialist next year? Do you want to dominate the Middle East militarily for America?? Or is there a different way???

Good point. Dems used to *own* the congress. The New Dems have squandered that, too. reformist2 Nov 2015 #5

I'll admit, Bernie is not nearly as pro-peace as I'd like. But he's not advocating for troops! reformist2 Nov 2015 #4

because they control the purse. This RepublicanCongress has really trained the left to not expect anything from them and to give them a pass on not doing their jobs. Pavlovian.

my tush. That is a term I've seen coined since the beginning of this primary. Voters created this mess. That is what you get when you refuse to participate because you can't have exactly what you want the way you demand. Sitting out and not voting matters. Not participating in the local groups that are involved with putting forward candidates leads to the luxury of blaming others for societal problems you don't like.

Pretty hilarious how Bernie fans went from swooning over the myth in their head that Bernie was going to end wars, to posting memes of Bernie promising to defeat ISIS. While completely ignoring Bernie saying he wouldn't end the drone program and he supports keeping troops in the Middle East.

Democrats need to have a real conversation about where Hillary or Bernie would take us in that regard, and soon!
