Bernie needs to geT beyind his talking points

I'm a very large Bernie supporter, like since the 90's. But he's got to get beyond his talking points. Not his message, but he has to give it more dimension and specifics.

Just my opinion, but there's so much there to talk about and he needs to dig deeper.

1. Time and again this is my problem with Sanders

Governing by meme. Even though I agree with his memes, that doesn't mean it's an actual plan.

"Break up the banks!"

Sure, I agree with the sentiment. What does that actually mean, though? There are ways to do it that would make things better and ways that would make things worse. Tell me what you're actually going to try to do. Don't just give me a bumper sticker.

I'm probably closer to Sanders than either of the other two in terms of policy goals, but the other two seem to have some sense of how to actually get there.

5. I think he does have that sense too...but for some reason he chooses to stick to the basics

Both as a mayor and in congress he's very comfortable at dealing with the details of policy, and the mechanics of getting things done. Even things as boring -- but important -- as making the Department of Public Works more efficient.

But in this campaign he doesn't seem to want to go there. It seems deliberate. Maybe he's trying to stay "on message" but I think he need to get off message and into the weeds some more.

Pound it in until it sinks-in to a majority of voters.

Sanders is a political winner because he doesn't waver, he is steady and he is the real deal.

He and his campaign team know exactly what they are doing.

8. I agree. He's still infinitely preferable to Clinton but he tends to ....

repeat himself, esp. w. reciting stats.

That gets tiresome.

OTOH..... the more casual political observer may be hearing the litany of income and wealth inequality stats and factoids for the first time.

12. The number used to be 50 percent of the people had never even heard of him

It now stands at 25 percent.

Listening to the speech at Georgetown, I also read the live responses on the right of the screen. I could not believe how many people had never even heard his speak before. Their reaction to him was for the most part amazing. One lady was crying.

So I think he thinks the important thing is to get those main points out to everyone he wants to reach before he starts refining them. He does talk outside of those points in one-on-one interviews.

I think he believes this is the way to attract more supporters; make sure he hits everyone with the important planks in his platform one he is given their ear.

14. I know....There has to be a balance though

His basic message and goal is important, and a lot of people are not used to hearing it spoken so clearly. So he does have to keep repeating it.

But I think he also needs to make it more well rounded, and go beyod it to specifics of solutions more. Especially to take people to the next step to "what do we do about it?"

Needs to give it a try, somehow. Time is just about up.

15. He just needs to release policy plans.

So he has something to point to. He looks ridiculous standing on stage declaring Hillary's Wall Street reform is "not good enough" while not even having a plan of his own. It's like Republicans trying to repeal Obamacare with no alternative in place.
