Republican President Pierotti caught on video tape!

http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1017&pid=49313 This way old elected Republican from the home of the Republicans, Wheaton, IL goes off on a citizen and breaks his rules while the overpaid part-time Commissioners (J Cantore Dist 2 absent again) sit there.

We need concerned citizens to speak out and ask them to answer our questions about the FBI investigation, closed door meetings about shutting down the Forest Preserve District and the big bonus with extra benefits paid to the Exec. Director (Manning) that left under a cloud of suspicion.

2. Appalling is only the start since he gets $107K plus big benefits for a part time job!
Mon Aug 27, 2012, 10:31 AM
Aug 2012

President Pierotti gets $107,000 a year and the 6 Commissioners get $53,500 a year for part time positions which includes full time benefits and a taxpayer subsidized pension. They are getting this whether or not they ask questions. That is outrageous! In addition, they accept campaign contributions from companies doing business with the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County. That is unethical and should be illegal.
ALL 6 COMMISSIONERS are up for reelection this year. Three old Republican Commissioners (Schultz, Formento and Kotecki) are heading out the door only to be replaced by new do nothing GOPbots. In contrast for the first time there are 6 qualified candidates running for Commissioner from the Democratic party. They all have experience in volunteering and working with forest preserves, trails and restoration of them. Give them your consideration and some money since none of them will take money from any company doing business with the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County.

4. $53,500 plus benefits and a pension for a part-time job in DuPage County? Yep!

Aug 2012

The 6 Commissioners on the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County get paid $53,500 a year plus fulltime benefits and a taxpayer subsidized pension for a PART-TIME job. They are supposed to work 1,000 hours a year for $53,500 plus! Commissioner Cantore District 2 doesn't even show up for many meetings and he gets that money too whether he needs it or not!

27. We agree that $53,500 a year for only 1,000 hours is crazy!

Sep 2012

We agree that the part time Forest Preserve Commissioners making $53,500 a year with full time benefits and a taxpayer subsidized pension for only 1,000 hours is crazy! And many don't work that hard since they just sit at the meetings and do not ask questions. Commissioner Cantore Dist. 2 does not even show up most meetings!
There are candidates running in all 6 districts. You owe it to yourself and your tax bill to see who are your canididates. One candidate Kirchenberg running in District 2 says he will work to make the salary for the part-time job to only $25,000.That sounds good. Check out what all the candidates have to say.

Sep 2012

This level of interest, the list of comments and the content of comments is very impressive! What isn't is the continued denial of the FBI's investigation into the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County. In recent "news articles" published in the Patch which are press releases from the FPD of DC's publicity consultants called Reverse Spin (crazy but true) they state the FBI was "called in." The FBI does not get called in when there is a fraudulent contract of $488,000 awarded to a make believe company.Recent indictments announced last week are just the "tip of the iceberg." This iceberg will suffer a fate worse than global warming when the FBI is done with their investigation.

61. Cantore gets paid a lot whether he shows up or not!
Mon Oct 8, 2012, 04:08 PM
Oct 2012

Kirchenberg (the guy asking questions in the video) attends more meetings than Cantore. Apparently Commissioner Joe Cantore has figured out that not only does he not have to speak at meetings and get paid $53,500 for a part-time job (for 1,000 hours maybe) that includes full time benefits, a taxpayer supported pension, a cell phone and a new laptop computer with 24 hour computer support he gets paid all this whether or not he attends any meetings. And that empty chair between Commissioner Marsha Murphy on the left and Commissioner Linda Painter on the right in the video

is Cantore's. He was absent again when Don Kirchenberg made this public comment and President Pierotti yelled and insulted him for asking tough questions! We need a new and better Forest Preserve Commissioner serving Dist. 2.
8. More people should probably see the FBI investigation news from the BGA site
Wed Aug 29, 2012, 02:06 PM
Aug 2012

More people should probably see the FBI investigation news from the BGA site and then maybe they'll believe him. The Daily Herald is the only newspaper published in the area to cover this story.
Please pass it on: http://www.bettergov.org/forest_preserve_probe_blooms_but_not_everyone_feels_the_gloom/
The Daily Herald is the only newspaper in the region to cover this story. And then ask the local newspapers to cover this big story! Contact them via email asking them to cover this story: [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] and [email protected].

Note newspapers are in a tough business and the one sure revenue source they still have is advertisement from government agencies. By law these agencies must post certain transactions in the newspapers and the newspapers make a good amount of money from these multipage postings that are advertised on a regular basis. We need to let these newspapers know that we want this important investigation covered. And we want them to cover why Pierotti is lying and allowed to intimidate citizens while the Commissioners sit silent.

Pierotti is the focus of these discussions as he should be because he is their "leader" and no Commissioner has decided to ask a single question (if they are in attendance) let alone take any action. But the Commissioners should be what we are concerned about. Now maybe because I am liberal I say let's layoff the corrupt old man and look at the either corrupt or lazy Commissioners. All 6 Commissioners are up for reelection. Look at who is running at see that the other political party (the Democratics) has on the ballot so they can provide the needed checks and balances for the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County.

In the video when "professor" Pierotti begins his speech he says 95% of the people making public comment have good intentions blah, blah blah. If he really was good at math he would have seen the theft of tax payer funds over the past 6 years. It took an FBI investigation (which he angrily denies is happening) to get these indictments started. He should be doing more checking and less talking so he and the 6 (well 5 since Commissioner Cantore, Dist 2 is rarely there) can protect our tax dollars!
We need them to protect our tax dollars AND forest preserves!

President Pierotti has been around over 20 years and that is probably 2 four year terms ago too long! We need term limits in any position. In this video while he is attempting to intimidate Don Kirchenberg he sounds like Mayor Daley the first and that is not a good thing in case you don't know.

The 6 Part-Time Commissioners from the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County each get paid $53,500 a year plus full-time benefits and a taxpayer subsidized pension for maybe 1,000 hours a year and they just sit there! Not one of the Commissioners has said a word at the meeting about the FBI's investigation. Here is one of the articles http://elmhurst.patch.com/articles/fbi-investigates-dupage-forest-preserve-contracts-a19cbfe2#comments_list about the investigation that the DCFPD President Dewey Pierotti keeps saying (even yelling at citizens on 8/14) that there is no investigation. Sep 2012

The Chgo Tribune had a small article about the big story that is starting to be released about the the theft of tax payer monies over 6 years! 6 years! This is the beginning of the indictments. Here is the story http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/ct-met-dupage-forest-preserve-thefts-0607-20120907,0,6531578.story We know from earlier news articles in the Daily Herald that over $488,000 was stolen in illegal contracts to insiders in the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County. These small indictments don't cover it all but the state that for 6 years the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County has failed to protect our tax dollars.

16. As always the hard truth is tough to swallow!
Thu Aug 30, 2012, 09:53 AM
Aug 2012

One political party in control equals abuse.

Like in Cook County where it is controlled by the Dems the DuPage County problems are caused by one political party in total control. The Republican control of the Forest Preserve District with the 6 weak Commissioners (really 5 since Commissioner Joe Cantore District 2 rarely attends) is a lot like the Cook County Board when Todd Stroger was in control! Sad but true.

Since the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County was separated from the DuPage County Board they have allowed these questionable practices:
$ Annual salaries of more than $53,000 with a taxpayer subsidized pension and full time benefits for a part time job.
$ Hiring of family members for well paying jobs.
$ Award of millions of our tax dollars in non-competitive contracts.
$ Accepted unlimited campaign donations from companies doing business with the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County.
For all the taxes we pay we deserve a better Forest Preserve District in DuPage County! Please tell any like minded voter you know in DuPage County about these abuses! It can change with new Commissioners elected on 11/6/12

18. Pierotti is not perfect but who is?
Fri Aug 31, 2012, 03:43 PM
Aug 2012

Noone is perfect but I agree with suggestions on various DU threads that Pierotti should apologize to Kirchenberg and all the citizens he should be serving NOT yelling at them. His yelling and name calling is inappropriate for anyone anywhere in public or private. Since he is an elected official he does serve as a role model and the example he is setting is a bad one!

Regarding the above post for more info on the excesses for these 6 part-time do nothing Commissioners they get $53,500 plus benefits and pension while Pierotti gets $107,000 and the benefits and pension plus a car allowance.

This is too much money for no work especially since Cantore is absent frequently.

Count us in for the group that wants term limits for all elected officials. Let's start with the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County. How about 3 terms or 12 years whichever is longest?

12. The Forest Preserve District President had a closed door meeting

Aug 2012

The Forest Preserve District President had a closed door meeting with the Chairman of DuPage County. http://www.bettergov.org/elected_officials_raise_specter_of_government_streamlining_in_dupage_county/?c=y He was upset for Don Kirchenberg bringing it up. I agree he should have discussed this drastic idea with the Commissioners in front of the public before he tried to get Cronin to buy in. It wasn't Chairman Cronin's idea. Cronin does not want anything to do with them because of the FBI investigation as noted in the article. After you view this video please add your concerns in the comments section.

15. Good for Cronin and probably bad for Pierotti
Thu Aug 30, 2012, 12:14 AM
Aug 2012

Typically when the FBI finds wrong doing they offer options other than indictments and trial. They let banks, big wall street types and unions to setup some kind of merger to close down the bad operations. That has to be what is going on here with the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County. Pierotti is trying to cut a deal and close down the FPD of DC. And if he closes it early before the FBI convenes a grand jury etc. he will protect his legacy since he is retiring.
Cronin is smart and smells a bad deal with the proposed merger with the FPD of DC. I expect Cronin to run for higher office soon based on his verbage when you hear him talk about the DuPage County budget, etc. What is Pierotti's next step and where will the next closed door meeting be held?

20. Way to keep it cool, Don!

Seriously, he's saying you can't trust what a newspaper reports?? I find that laughable. Note: People who get pissed off about something you say are actually feeling threatened by it - because anger is a response to fear of something; fear of not getting your way, fear of losing your job, something. If he wasn't worried about what you were saying, he would've just laughed it off. Instead, you got under his skin with what you were saying, That alone speaks volumes to me. Where's my Commissioner, Joe Cantore at this meeting, by the way? Was he there?

21. Don kept it cool and best of all he displayed his determination to ask questions and stand up to him

Dan
We agree and are also happy to see how Don Kirchenberg kept it cool during Pierotti's irrational tirrade. Best of all he displayed his determination to ask questions and stand up to "Pierotti the Bully." The 5 Commissioners that were in attendance just sit there. And to answer your question yes Joe Cantore Commissioner District 2 was absent again!
We need new Commissioners that will ask questions and be determined to improve the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County. Don Kirchenberg has been a dedicated volunteer that has participated and lead many programs or groups that have improved the quality of life in DuPage County. We think he would make a great Commissioner for Dsitrict 2.

Yes Kirchenberg kept his cool while Pierotti turned on his "crazy." We'll take cool over crazy anyday!

25. Chicagoland Outdoors says "Don isn't the only "locust" in DuPage County who's concerned."
Wed Sep 5, 2012, 09:05 AM
Sep 2012

According to Adam Morgan in his article in Chicagoland Outdoors titled "Trouble in the Forest: FBI Looks Into DuPage Preserve Scandal, District President Goes On Angry Tirade." Adam closes with this...

President Pierotti then ridicules Don for what he said at a meeting last week, "that Mr. [Brent] Manning and this board was [sic] being investigated by the FBI, which is nothing further from the truth. So why don't you check your facts."

Don then politely asks if he can finish. President Pierotti says "you can do anything you damn well please."

So Don asks why the President and Commissioners of the Forest Preserve won't publicly discuss Manning's bonus or the idea of closing the district.

"Are you idiotic?" Pierotti replies. "You're like the locusts, you come around every 17 years," he says, then repeats that Brent Mannings was never questioned by the FBI, and boasts that he's never had an accusation regarding the Forest Preserve substantiated by the State's Attorney's office or the FBI.

Before Don can continue, President Pierotti waves him off, saying "that's enough, I don't wanna talk anymore. I got a root canal I have to do today, I shouldn't even be here and put up with this."

He must have had quite the toothache.

Regardless of the investigation, and Brent Manning or President Pierotti's role in it (and President Pierotti's thin grasp on English grammar), this is no way to conduct oneself as an elected civil servant. Especially not towards a member of the community during a public forum. And judging from videos of other public meetings, Don isn't the only "locust" in DuPage County who's concerned.

Speaking of, locusts do not appear once every 17 years. Some cicadas do, but they belong to a completely different taxonomic order.###

54. Pierotti claims to have a perfect record for 20 years of not breaking the law is wrong!

Let's be sure to remind everyone that the illegal closed door meetings that Pierotti claims to have a perfect record for 20 years of not breaking the law is wrong! See this link to a recent news article about a recent ruling where the IL Attorney General's office said stop breaking the law about closed door meetings: http://lisle.patch.com/announcements/illinois-attorney-general-issues-binding-opinion-against-dupage-forest-preserve

37. Dan - we agree with you Dewey's angry speaks volumes!
Mon Sep 10, 2012, 09:02 AM
Sep 2012

Dewey's angry speaks volumes about the importance of asking questions and the willingness of Don Kirchenberg to ask tough questions. What was even better was Don Kirchenberg's determination to take the insults and abuse talk the President of the Forest Preserve District dealt in trying to intimidate him. We all need to ask those tough questions of our elected officials. Since many of us can't get to a Forest Preserve Commission meeting including our Commissioner Joe Cantore of District 2 we should be very happy that concerned citizens like Don Kirchenberg can be there for concerned citizens like us!

42. Pierotti "has no clothes"!
Tue Sep 11, 2012, 05:26 PM

King/Emperor Pierotti and the do little Commissioners have little clue what the public wants. We need to get involved with the respective candidates for Commissioner now running in all 6 districts! Please support them and ask how you can help them.

45. I hate that headline! It paints an ugly picture!
Wed Sep 12, 2012, 11:23 AM
Sep 2012

It is a terrible headline for the picture it paints but it is true! President/King or Emperor Pierotti has been around too long. Within minutes of his preamble about what to do and speaking the truth during public comment he breaks all the rules he set down for anyone making public comment. Then when a citizen makes public comment he breaks more rules by interrupting them. He isn't even supposed to comment after public comment. This video is an even worse picture for any elected official clothes on or off:

Other voters in DuPage County need to see this video and remind them there is a choice for Commissioners on 11/6/12. As Don Kirchenberg says in the video "let the voters decide in November!"

This guy lectures (bores) the public on best behaviors and then insults a citizen (while breaking his own rules for public comment) that took time off work to attend a meeting which they hold at 9AM on Tuesday mornings. Who could ever support this guy?

This video on youtube "Pierotti's Appeal" is an example of how not to behave in general let alone when someone has the responsibilty as an elected official. And he is not new at this! He has been around for 20 years plus! Yes he is an example of why Term Limits are a good idea. Please pass it on to everyone.

56. It must be certain that everyone knows Pierotti is lying!
Fri Sep 21, 2012, 04:19 PM
Sep 2012

It must be certain that everyone knows Pierotti is lying when he accuses Kirchenberg of only going to meetings to make critical statements. Kirchenberg has been working hard for decades to help protect the trees, trails and trail users. He served as a volunteer as President of the IL Prairie Path for over 7 years and on the organization's board of directors for 9. He is also the ongoing Voluntary Chairman of the Friends of the Great Western Trails. He founded the Friends of the GWTs group and has been leading it for 12 years to the benefit of the trail, trail users and surrounding communities.
In addition he lead the fight for the preservation of over 8 acres of unique forest in DuPage County. This property was saved from a proposed development of 46 townhomes with a new street crossing on the IL Prairie Path in Glen Ellyn. This land is now the Glacial Ridge Forest Preserve of DuPage County. It is a unique and some say important part of DuPage County because it was never developed and offers groupings of trees that they do not even have at the Morton Arboretum. Here are some news stories from Chicago Wilderness about this special and very successful effort. Check the Saving Kame article here http://www.chicagowilderness.org/CW_Archives/issues/winter2002/newswild.html
AND check out a report on the success of Kirchenberg's leadership in saving this parcel of land http://www.chicagowilderness.org/CW_Archives/issues/spring2005/news/dupagekame.html

34. Arrogant incompetence
Sat Sep 8, 2012, 05:01 PM
Sep 2012

Pierotti sure has a big mouth for an elected officer who has failed at one of his most basic duties: keeping his employees from robbing the agency. Same goes for the do nothing commissioners who rubber stamped these expenditures. I'm impressed with Don Kirchenberg and Steve Leopoldo who have been on top of the scandals unfolding right under the noses of Pierotti, Cantore and Painter at the Forest Preserve District.

35. We agree that President Pierotti "has a big mouth."
Sat Sep 8, 2012, 10:49 PM
Sep 2012

He is all talk and no action unless "action" means he likes to give away our hard earned tax dollars? For example he gave the former Executive Director Bent Manning $50,000+ extra tax dollars as a going away present even though he was in charge while a contract for $488,000 was given to a company that folded as soon as any questions were asked about it. When will the Commissioners ask about these deals that costs us taxopayers too much money? Sep 2012

Markg8 is on the spot with his assessment of Pierotti and the "do nothing Commissioners." We are lucky to have quality candidates running and speaking up to ask the tough questions no matter Pierotti wants. It is time for a change in Commissioners.

47. Mark G8 is correct!
Wed Sep 12, 2012, 02:37 PM
Sep 2012

It is unfortunate that Pierotti keeps getting reelected. The unfortunate result of all his election victories is his feeling of power which is shown on the video and the way he talks to a concerned citizen.

48. another thing about Pierotti and his angry tirade...
Wed Sep 12, 2012, 02:41 PM
Sep 2012

We forgot to add that Pierotti is "all powerful" and not up for reelection this time but all 6 Commissioners can and should be replaced on 11/6/12. See the various sites listing these candidates and ask them about Pierotti and his angry tirade. Ask them what they would do if/when he acts up if they were Commissioners.

49. Pierotti is "powerful" because the current Commissioners are quiet!
Wed Sep 12, 2012, 02:55 PM
Sep 2012

Pierotti would not be "powerful" and feel he can abuse the citizens if any of the Commissioners would speak up! They sit there (if they ever show up at all) and don't challenge anything Pierotti says. We need new Commissioners with new ideas.

51. Felony indictments announced for theft for 6 years from the FPD of DC!
Thu Sep 13, 2012, 11:45 AM
Sep 2012

The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County has been mismanaged for too long. Recent indictments announced on 9/5/12 disclosed 6 years of theft http://couriernews.suntimes.com/news/crime/14966210-418/three-ex-dupage-county-employees-charged-in-kickback-scheme.html. The Commissioners just sit there and don't ask questions and vote as a block if they attend at all which Commissioner Cantore District 2 does not.

52. 6 years of theft of our tax dollars from the Forest Preserve District in Du Page Cty!
Fri Sep 14, 2012, 10:57 AM
Sep 2012

Forest Preserve President Pierroti gave the Executive Director an extra $50,000 in severance over the $74,000 he received saying yes he is only partly responsible for the problems with the illegal contract, etc. These "problems" was a theft that went on for 6 years. So 6 years of theft/problems got him an extra $50,000. If there was more theft for a longer period of time would he have gotten more money?

More importantly why wouldn't any of the 6 Commissioners (well really 5 because Commissioner Cantore District 2 is hardly there) ask about this extra bonus or any of the problems with 6 years of theft? Not a word has been said about this at any meetings of the Forest Preserve Commission of Du Page County. To us that is as big a problem as 6 years of theft, illegal contracts and extra monies given needlessly to an Executive Director that was a failure.

When a citizen asked about this bonus he gets yelled at (see the video on Youtube entitled "Pierotti's Appeal&quot and insulted by Pierotti. Is this why the Commissioners are quiet?

All 6 Commissioners are up for reelection but not the President/Emperor/King Pierotti. Why not?
Maybe if we can get enough non GOPbot Commissioners elected he'll quit?

53. As they say "throw out all the record books!"
Sun Sep 16, 2012, 08:15 PM
Sep 2012

This election for 6 different Commissioners of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County is different.
Here is how different the election on Tuesday 11/6/12 is:
> The FBI is investigating the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County.
> 3 Class X felony indictments have been issued for 6 years of theft from our Forest Preserve District of DuPage County.
> President Pierotti of the same Forest Preserve District of DuPage County is cracking under the pressure of good candidates asking questions and the FBI investigating an agency of government in DuPage County for the first time.
> There are 6 very good candidates challenging the GOPbot Commissioner incumbents or candidates.
> Questions remain whether or not more or how many more indictments will come from the investigation of the illegal contract for $500,000.
> We the voters can change how our 25,000+ acres are managed and the how the $42 Million budget is spent.

Please pass on this news to anyone in DuPage County or people that know people in DuPage County!
