What's this about Romney/Ryan cutting the VETERANS ADMINISTRATION budget?

This seems to gone unnoticed? These are the first steps for Romney/Ryan to cut the VA.

But a budget proposal by top Republican Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin to trim spending at the Department of Veterans Affairs had some DAV members worried.
"If they go and approve this, we will have some of the smaller VA facilities closing down in rural states," said Gene Murphy, the state DAV director. "Then you're going to put these veterans' into the Medicare and Medicaid programs."

Budget Panel Eyes End to VA Care for 1.3 Million Vets
The House Budget Committee, chaired by Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), has told a veterans' group it is studying a plan to save $6 billion annually in VA health care costs by canceling enrollment of any veteran who doesn't have a service-related medical condition and is not poor.
Committee Republicans, searching for ways to curb federal deficits and rein in galloping VA costs, are targeting 1.3 million veterans who claim priority group 7 or 8 status and have access to VA care.

No surprise. Very few vets are part of the 1% they are sworn to protect. Viva_Daddy Aug 2012 #1

The GOP is full of chickenhawks and they don't care about real soldiers

Ultimately they want to voucherize vets care as well. Let them compete on the free market. The GOP view veterans the same way they view welfare clients. Veterans are just a drain on the budget and are slackers. They won't say that publicly, but they imply it all the time.

The Ryan budget would sacrifice vets care for weapons development and defense. Even though R$R would increase the defense budget by trillions, little would go for wounded warriors. And if you look at what is going on now we have hundreds of thousands of vets who have or will have PTSD which is pretty much incurable right now. It is a chronic condition that will last a life time.

Romney recently said he was "too important' to serve in Vietnam. And he also supported the Vietnam war and was in a pro war demonstration. Yet he did not serve. Sadly the VFW and Legion will probably endorse a person who has only been a leech. And he is a patriot?

What is really alarming is that Bush and Rumsfeld wanted to profitize MASH units in the war zone by letting contractor control the casualty units. That is where they triage soldiers to decide who to save. Doing it for a profit would be scandalous.

Only good soldier is a dead soldier to these guys. They can use their deaths as excuses for more wars and they don't talk back.

I hope some of these folks who have been drinking the right wing kool-aid will do the right thing on election day.

and then dump on them when they are home.

These guys aren't fit to breathe the air in the town where my father, a WWII Navy vet, has his grave.

warmongering is the core of their campaign. They think they have the veterans on their side but now the veterans are having second thoughts.
