(13,190 posts)Well the majority of primary voters are women as she's said before if anyone want to accuse me of pandering to woman QUOTE eal me in I'm pretty sure her campaign has done extensive polling on this and that's why she keeps saying it.That's my observation

(9,497 posts)Republican women have a woman to vote for, too
Jill Stein for the Greens.
Being a woman candidate for president isn't singular anymore.

(19,877 posts)Women are oppressed no matter what socio-economic class we're in and I think it serves society well to have equal representation.

(6,476 posts)is a reason to vote for her. I don't vote that way and hearing her do it made me cringe.

(36,221 posts)Pointing that out, is nothing that should make you cringe.
It ought to make you proud she is out there achieving.
artislife
(9,497 posts)You know this is special because there are 3 female candidates representing three parties.
And the minority candidates are all Republicans.
We have the only nonChristian, though!
Pretty interesting make up of the candidates.
boston bean
(36,221 posts)But she has every right to say it.
Me, I don't think Hillary and Carly are even on the same playing field, but your mileage may vary.
artislife
(9,497 posts)is not the way to go.
I like HP products, I think Carly and H have similar view points on the little guys who are getting squished by this economic set up.
haikugal
(6,476 posts)I don't need to be told that, or reminded. I don't think that being a woman has much to do with anything other than a first and as such doesn't need to be brought into a debate.
No 'should' required. If she is elected president then I'll be glad we finally elected a woman, as an aside.
boston bean
(36,221 posts)Me, I find it truthful, and I do think it is important a woman achieve the highest office. Not any woman, mind you. But Hillary, yes.
I think the first black president meant something very significant, as well as I think the first woman president would too.
People were very proud of that. What?? women can't be proud of other women, it's insulting when they are?
okay.......

(6,476 posts)It doesn't belong in a debate but you go girl!

(19,877 posts)I could have left it at just the question but expanded to make sure it wasn't being accusatory.

No, that is pretty much an accusation. Who does she think she is fooling? Vile stuff, to call another woman an anti-feminist.
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Wed Oct 14, 2015, 10:22 AM, and the Jury voted 3-4 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #2 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: It is a thinly veiled personal attack. Very easy fix = dpn't get personal. The person you were responding to was talking about a political candidate and YOU made it about the DU'er. See how easy it is to understand?
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: I'm still trying to figure out why this alert was EVER sent.
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Not really. We've had more than a few people on this site who are female and consider themselves "anti-feminist". Even if it was an accusation, it's tame compared to what "the community" has let stand in the past, so...*shrugs*
Juror #5 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #7 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: No explanation given

Actually, on this board there is a lot of Jill Stein for second choice.

JaneyVee
(19,877 posts)"A lot of women".
artislife
(9,497 posts)I guess her being for a woman's right to not choose isn't helping her.
My argument isn't for Carly, it is that there are 3 women and the fact they are women isn't novel. There are 3 of them.
Hillary needs to convince the nonh supporters with policy instead of gender.
Those who are going to vote for any of the three women because they are the type of woman they admire are already in their columns.
The rest of us who care about other things don't really want to hear that refrain, it reminds us of the sad back stories on Idol or SYTYCD and we start to cringe every time it is brought up. We want to vote on a candidate on merit.

(11,906 posts)Everyone knows she is a woman. What is the point of constantly bringing it up if it isn't pandering?
NCTraveler
(30,481 posts)We are so far from equal representation it is unreal. How are women's right currently doing under control of the good ole boys club? Sexist comments left and right hurled at Clinton. Still questions if a woman can do the job. Speak it as often as possible Clinton. As often as possible.
What would the republican and democratic debate stages look like if all men were removed?

(85,986 posts)...this is a dirt-dumb criticism. More than that, it's sophistry. Where does Wilder get off reducing her presidential bid to playing the 'gender card' (whatever that means)? This is exactly the same criticism Wilder and other black leaders receive from the right when they speak out or act on issues of race.
Hillary's a woman and she'll be representing issues important to women from an experienced perspective. Wilder and others who find that objectionable will just have to deal with it.
Doctor_J
(36,392 posts)OTOH, her campaign is pretty weak on the issues, so that horse will be beaten to death and then some.
Here's my take on it
