The claim about Romney not paying taxes starts to make sense
when you consider that his main role at Bain was finding new investors. He has as much as aknowledged that one his selling points was tax avoidance, for which he set up shell corporations in places like the Cayman Islands. It is easy to imagine him bragging to investors that "I haven't paid taxes in 10 years." Maybe it was true; maybe not.
Reid is now saying that the heard this from a number of people. This is credible, since, as Mormons, Reid and Romney are likely to be acquainted with some of the same people--and there were a lot of Mormons involved with Bain. It is likely, therefore, that tax claim may have been part of his standard sales pitch. If so, one of those investors is eventually going to come forward, probably at the worst possible time for Mitt. At this point, it doesn't even matter if it is true. He either lied then or he lied now.

Poor Mitt. That's what's called being over a barrel, or between a rock and a hard place. Hooray! The Dems have learned to play hardball and I love it. Go get 'em, Harry Reid, force this guy to cough up the goods or go home to lick his wounds from the beating he's gonna take in November, whether he releases the taxes (and faces the music) or not.

|
Your post is amazingly true, Smilo. Over on Yahoo, I'm guessing that Romney must have an entire army of Mormons dedicated to posting 24/7. It doesn't matter what evil, corrupt or embarrassingly stupid info turns up on Romney. To the degree that the negative info hurts Romney, that is how loud and obnoxious the right-wing whacko posters on Yahoo respond. It is so funny in some ways -- almost like turning the volume knob. And yeah, they aren't very bright, which is why they need that template you mention and a few others so they can just fill in the blanks.
Have you noticed that there are an increasing number of posts on Yahoo -- the land of right-wing whacko-ism -- that are calling for "revolution" in case Obama wins? That is a sure sign that Obama is winning and they know it. |

|
There are no moderators and one person called me some vile things that I can't repeat and I made a reasonable comment The right wingers are really losing it and if President Obama wins re-election it is going to get ugly. Maybe they will have a mass suicide like Jonestown. They call for a revolution but they are probably so fat they can't get off their couches!

24. "those on the right do not care - "it's his money""
|
Yeah, and what they see is Democrats talking about taxing it.
In the Right Wing "Mind" that just reenforces their whole belief system that Democrats believe they are entitled to money they didn't earn. The whole "government is stealing from you" thing. Some even claim taxes are a form of slavery. They will hail Romney as a hero if he didn't pay any taxes and view Democrats as kicking in his doors to steal from him. |

8. What state did Romney file his tax returns in? Rachel asked that question last night.
|
And it sounds like Romney filed in the state of Utah, where the income tax rates are less than they are in the state of Massachusetts.
But then, after Romney decided he wanted to run for Governor of the state of Massachusetts, he tried to retroactively file his income tax returns in the state of Massachusetts. Ooops. Can't do that. |
