Good sign? The Obama campaign has stopped buying ads in PennsylvaniaA campaign only stops buying ads in a state when they are pretty sure they will win it, or pretty sure they will lose it. I doubt that the Obama campaign feels that PA is a lost cause.... so I am guessing their internal polling in the state has been very good lately. According to MSNBC' First Read: *** Obama camp stops its PA ad spending, for now: By the way, the Obama campaign is no longer advertising in Pennsylvania -- at least for now. We’ll have more information on all the ad spending later. But their latest buy has them in 8 states: FL, VA, NH, OH, IA, NV, CO and NC. 5 of those 8 states were Red states in 2004. 7 of them werte Red states in 2000. The Obama campaign is on offense, folks.

1. I would assume that they feel good about it
|
I can't remember any polling that was looking extremely good for Mitt there. The fact that Republicans have been pretty brazen about the fact that- at least for them- their Voter ID law was about electing Romney is pretty disconcerting, however.

How's that playing? People who THINK they have ID and who DON'T? Can we wait for decision from court(s?)

That the Repukes will still play their games at the polls, and some will be turned or scared away. I hope team Obama knows what they are doing. Maybe they will go back to ads in Pa in October.

32. Good news. The article in today's Patriot-News says they entered Turzai's comments into the record.
|
He's the one who said at a Republican fundraiser that the voter ID law was going to allow rMoney to win PA. The move to put it in the record was to point out that the Republicans aren't even trying to hide the fact that they passed the law strictly for political reasons to exclude likely Obama voters.
The on-line edition of the paper only has a short segment of the print version and doesn't mention that part. |

And it also looks like someone in the campaign is thinking that the PA disenfranchisement law is not going to stand up in court . ..

Actually the National Action Network have volunteers in PA doing all they can to "spread the word" to voters about the effect of the Voter ID law and the need for State Govt issued id...

But that margin is not big enough to consider PA safe, unless there is other info that says MittWitt can't win there.

Rmoney has Money. Obama needs to conserve his cash for the onslaught by the Death Star in the fall.
Hate to say it folks but we gotta quit snarkin' and we gotta start sending dough. I am going to make some of those horrible campaign calls soon. I really hate phone banking but I do wonder if we are getting a Kerry redux. Clueless candidate on the other side. We get our yucks by poking fun at him and then we lose the election. |

|
Still receiving solicitations, from POTUS and DCCC, etc, and I think its WAY to early. MOST of the 'important' voters, Independents and undecided, probably not paying attention.
AND there's the tampering PA repugs are doing w voting registration. NOT breathing comfortably until November. |

I'm sure the campaign will be back in Pennsylvania when they figure the time is right to be. Probably right after the convention they will change their plan again. And wouldn't Romney in the news be just as good as for Obama as having their own ads?

Consider where Obama Isn't spending money
West-New Mexico Midwest-Minnesotta,Wisconsin,Michigan Let's deal where Obama Is focusing money on West-Nevada(Lost to both Gore and Kerry) Colorado(Clinton In 1996+Gore and Kerry Lost) Midwest-Iowa(State Gore won but Kerry lost) Ohio(Lost to both Gore and Kerry) Northeast-NH(Gore lost but Kerry won) South-Virginia(Obama first dem since LBJ to win) NC(Obama first Democrat since 1976 Carter to win) and Florida(Stolen from Gore and lost by Kerry) If Obama wins Co,NV,IA,and NH he wins election even If Romney wins Ohio, and Florida. Not that I think Romney will win both. And Obama doesn't think NC Is lost cause like some think. |

I seriously doubt he's totally abandoning PA yet.
So far their plan has been working at keeping WMitt off balance. Moving to formerly red states makes sense. If they can get the Repubs spread out too thin fighting on defense it could work out to offset the money advantage and be a big plus down the road. |

Does this news mean they are stopping soon? That voter ID law worries me a lot. I think if Romney happens to win, the result should be challenged due to the suppression.

29. Take this as a sign that the Obama camp is keeping a close eye on ALL battleground states
|
Including PA. I was down in DC last Friday for a meeting with, among others, very top members of the
Obama campaign, and they are keeping close watch on every single battleground state, and allocating their resources every bit as strategically as the Republican opposition. Some battleground states are being saturated with as many as 40--as in FORTY--anti-Obama ads a DAY. Republicans troll DU, so I won't get specific, but they know lots of stuff they don't say to the media, and they have statistics that are as good (and hopefully as accurate or more so) as those Frank Luntz has. Yes, we'll get outspent. That has been calculated into the equation. No, we can't afford a 50 state strategy this election, at least not on a national scale. They know we'll not carry Oklahoma or Alabama, but what else is new? Everybody knows that--THIS time at least. This time, we just need to win, get justices on the Supreme Court who will listen to challenges to Citizens United and overturn it. For this, we need the Senate, not the House. The Republicans will pour insane amounts of money against us. We can't match it. But we can throw insane amounts of numbers and dedication back at them. Their candidate is not fit to be president. Nor was their candidate in 2000. In 2000, we didn't point that out enough. This time we will. The offense will continue through election day. I'm not giving anything away by saying that. |
