Boston Globe: Elizabeth Warren Being Considered as DNC Keynote SpeakerWarren being considered as DNC keynote speaker
By Glen Johnson GLOBE STAFF JULY 19, 2012 The crowds at political conventions feast on partisan red meat, and they could end up with a bellyful when the Republicans and Democrats meet back-to-back beginning late next month. An Obama campaign official confirmed to the Globe on Wednesday that US Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren is being considered as a possible keynote speaker for the Democratic National Convention. The New York Post also reported that New Jersey Governor Chris Christie will be the keynote speech at the Republican National Convention.

39. To be fair I think most said that Treasury high ups hated Warren, not POTUS
|
POTUS seems to have learned that his left flank was right and always offers better strategy than the timid center. Warrren as keynote is the natural progression of his evolution. She has much charisma as POTUS, speaks just as well, and his a natural lefty, not a switch hitter like POTUS, who will fire up the base.............which is really needed. Moreover a large percentage of the base want HER to be his successor. It just makes sense.

My I recommend Michelle Bachmann for the GOP Convention? They could use some rational, intelligent discourse and she's just the one to do it. "Snowdrift Snookie" Palin would work too.

10. This is great news. I'd also like to see Gov. Brian Schweitzer as a keynote speaker.
|
Warren would be great, but she hasn't won her Senate seat yet. How many keynote speakers were running for their first national office? However, her campaign fits the theme of the nation's mood. How many women have given the DNC keynote addresses.
Gov. Brian Schweitzer overshadowed the 2008 keynote speaker, Mark Warner, who gave a boring speech, and Schweitzer knows how to toss the "red meat" to the activists. He's my top choice for Prez in 2016. I like Gov. O'Malley but when I've seen him speak, he reminds me more of Sen. Harry Reid than an electrifying speaker. |

21. Obama had like a 60 point lead over Keyes and spent the fall campaigning for Dems in other states
|
So his circumstances were a bit unique. Ann Richards might be a better example, as she hadn't held national office (or the Governor's mansion) yet when she gave the keynote in '88.

22. In 2004, Obama was the heavy favorite to win his US Senate seat
|
The IL Republicans had no real challenger for him, so he was basically a US Senator, except in name in 2004 when he gave his famous keynote address.
Warren isn't a Senator, yet and unlike Obama in 2004, she's in a very tight race. The keynote address slot would give her free air time and I certainly think she can give a great and inspiring speech. I listened to her at Netroots Nation and loved every word she said. I could also see her in the keynote speaker role as a sign from Obama that he would lean a bit more to the left economically in his 2nd term than he did in his first one. Hell, it's nice to see the Dems, for a change, have a great set of leaders who'd be great keynote speakers. |

He would do a helluva job going around the country giving sh*t to the republicans as only he can do. Nice geographical balance, too...
