New Romney Attack Ad Video Uses Footage Of Obama Singing - (video)

Last edited Mon Jul 16, 2012, 07:07 AM USA/ET - Edit history (1)

After the Obama campaign hit Mitt Romney with a brutal ad featuring Romney singing, the Romney campaign is out with a new web video Monday morning using footage of President Obama famously singing a line of Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together” back in January. The video is titled “Political Payoffs And Middle Class Layoffs” and the line – “I’m so in love with you” – is used in the video as a love note from the president to his donors.

1. But it sure sounds like he is singing to the people

not the donors. Sorry mittens. Ya gotta get clip of him singing in the shower so you won't hear the Americans screaming in support of him in the background.

He didn't have that problem getting a clip of your singing. No fans screaming for you, Rmoney.

Bob Shieffer on Face the Nation couldn't help but chuckle when he played it either.

7. More "I know you are but what am I" from this stunningly unoriginal campaign

Always ten steps behind. Formidable.

10. We love you back, Barack!

And does Romney REALLY want to open the door on who is donating to each candidate, and who is beholden to special interests?

Really?

11. Why shouldn't they? Obama's campaign surely knew they would do that when they put out

the ad with Romney singing.

15. If all the Romney campaign can do is get ideas from Obama and imitate them

They're in bigger trouble than anyone thought.

16. derivative and like all derivative works...

totally misses the ball.

The can't play Obama singing because of the cheering in the background.

Without the singing, there is no sound to draw the audience in to actually watch and read the ad.

You don't hear the words of the song juxtaposed against the reality of the person's deeds. Just people cheering and then supposed scary chords of music.

Many people don't know the song Obama is singing, so can't fill in the blanks. Everybody grew up with the song Mitt's singing, and knows it's meaning. They don't need to fill in any blanks...it's all drummed up with the off key rendition.

And to me, the clincher is this. It becomes just another example of Mitten stealing from the creators. He lacks the ability to create a brilliant, or even very good, ad. He's too cheap to pay somebody truly brilliant at what they do. So he hires somebody on the cheap to do a cheap knockoff and try to pass it off as the real thing.

FAIL.

17. i could be impartial and say it was good if it was, but it does suck

Too much writing and it seems unorganized and forced. Maybe repukes would like it.

18. Hasty response to "Firms".

Last edited Mon Jul 16, 2012, 12:13 PM USA/ET - Edit history (2)

Not particularly original, the attacks don't quite have the sticking power that the Bain attacks against Romney in Firms does, and of course, there's a distinct aftertaste of racism...

There's no juxtapostion like in the Firms ad - like Romney singing "America! America" juxtaposed with a Swiss flag, or example.

Oh, and probably not good for them to include the sound of cheering with Obama's singing - looks like they couldn't edit that out. The cheering has the effect of putting the lie into the ad.

Just a cheap imitation.

You are turning the stomachs of your own base and making the opposition laugh at you like a clown!!

20. There is a noticeable difference in being on tune and not! Right On Prez.!

We need another ad with the Pres. singing that lists all his promises and the ones fulfilled!
Come on at least our Prez. can sing! Maybe a singing duet with Beyonce!

Counter Attack!!!
