A little bit more context on who Sanders is and what he has stood for, in a speech to support Jesse Jackson for president in 1988, and an interview about it. (Jackson is an African American, by the way.)

His powers of political prediction were not very accurate, and at the time he was an advocate of a multi party system who supported Jackson pragmatically to advance the progressive agenda.
