Voter Riots 2012

I was in a Denny's this morning and heard some more than a little loud discussion in the booth behind me. Some older folks with a... well I couldn't tell exactly what their political persuasion was.. they went all over the place, but one thing they were clear on.. someone tries to stop them from voting in November, it won't be pretty. And, if you put any stock in their conversation, that feeling is starting to build around the country....

Thoughts?

1. It seems that we find out about the problems on election day and cry about them for the rest of our

lives.

I remember watching the Civil Rights Commission on TV just after the 2000 FLA fiasco. Was anything done about the problems people encountered then? I give you the 2012 voter purge!

2. IDK. But I remember loose talk online that blacks would riot in 2008 if Obama didn't win.

That was from the usual suspects, white GOP supporters. They always seem to think that minorities are just itching to be offended and go nuts. It was similar to the days before the Iraq invasion, that Muslims were going to do all sorts of things here in revenge. They didn't, in fact many supported the invasion. And to our everlasting shame, blacks have often been made to feel as foreigners in the land of their birth...

The 2008 story was part of their whole 'martial law' conspiracy. But I've been hearing the 'race riot' thing since the fifties, mainly promoted by the wackos such as the KKK, etc. I don't see how there would be a riot at a voting place, it would not accomplish much.

Did the people you heard elaborate, or just suggest there'd be a lot of anger?

I have not heard anything at all here.
