I thought that area was pretty progressive...or at least not deep red like the central valley in CA, where I though Issa hailed from. How did a scumbag like Issa get elected in that area?

I was thinking Carlsbad was mixed in with points south, like Leucadia, which is (or at least was) a hippy haven. Damn. Does your guy have a chance?

Most of Carlsbad is in the 50th, which stretches down towards La Jolla, including Leucadia, Encinitas, Cardiff, Solana Beach, and Del Mar.

two of these 1%ers talking about how awfully demanding teachers are. If it hadn't been so disgusting, it would have been funny. What a pair!

on a train. 1%ers have private jets and such-like and don't have to bother with niceties like driving or taking mass transit.

Editing as I found the district has been redrawn and does include some far south OC cities.

Hit him hard with how he enriched himself with taxpayer dollars, corruption, his criminal background - which I'm pretty sure his constituents don't know about. Embarrass Issa and his privileged constituents will be embarrassed, too, and only then would they either not vote for him and stay home or they'll vote for a Democrat.

Short of that, there's no unseating him in his district.

This is a pretty red district, but they're sensitive to being embarrassed. If the Democratic candidate can successfully use negative ads or campaign negatively against Issa, he'll have a shot at unseating that crook and liar. There is no other way.

Thanks for the link! They should repost this story in the Vista district. Also, Issa is making himself a national figure. It's time he's given a national scrutiny, too.

at his expanded, remodeled mansion. I don't know if Romney votes in California or not, or if he's still supposed to be residing in his son's basement for residency purposes. It would be wonderful to get Issa out but then it would be great to get Rohrabacher out too up in northern Orange County where I live.

I'm not sure where the Romney house is, but the coastal strip west of Torrey Pines and Gerard (and they do call it a "beach house" is in the 53rd district. That is a Democratic district represented by The Honorable Susan Davis.

Issa is definitely a Republican. I'm in his redrawn district, so now I get to work against him instead of the usual struggle against Brian Bilbray (who is now running in a neighboring -- redrawn -- district). There's a better shot at defeating Bilbray this time than Issa because Bilbray's new district is more Democratic than his previous district.

and is definitely safe, so maybe I'll devote a little money and a little time to Jerry. On his website, Jerry doesn't have any events scheduled. Will try to contact his office and see what's doing. I think Issa should absolutely be #1 on the Dems hit list.

Do door-to-door voter reg, then go back one election day(NOT just a phone call) and get that vote to the polls.

Long ago, in northern California, had this one precinct with -not exactly democratic leanings-but the area also lacked beiing cared about. Sent out postcards, then followed up with door to door registration, AND also get out the vote rides. This very prejudiced area carried the vote for Calif. Super. of School, man named Wilson Riles. It does make a difference! Caring matters.

Best to you and your efforts.
