Related: About this forumIn the media's eyes ROMNEY can do no wrong
It is nauseating. Most in the media are fawning over the Romneys. They say "what a strong candidate", making excuses for him all the way.
How can we get over to the voters that he is elite - a slippery man with no expertise in running a country. He was a miserable governor.

(33,497 posts)So I don't think that is the reason. I think the media are doing the bidding of their corporate masters who want continued corporate tax cuts and tax cuts for the rich.

(12,272 posts)I am not sure what else to call the corporate masters, but they are elitists who want to be kings. How is it they can compel others to do their bidding? Money can go a long way toward explaining why the M$M is complicit.
But how do they compel the average person? My current theory is that they create learned helplessness and then offer a vision of an ideal solution. And with control of the media, this is reinforced.
Here is the outcome that they rely on, once their candidate gets into office, they will have become so powerful that it won't matter if the masses wake-up to the ruse as the middle class deteriorates and the weak die off.
In Utah, the management uses guilt and peer pressure. If you haven't received all that was promised you when you joined, it is because you don't deserve it for whatever reason that you feel guilt for. You haven't lived up to your end of the bargain, so god doesn't love you as much as god loves someone like Romney.

(22,893 posts)I think the American people pretty much know the score. Of course we have our crazies, but these zealots don't seem to have much gray matter. They do what they're told, believe the propaganda, and walk in lock-step.

And for the younger generation do twitter shit, and let them know that their lives can be hit if they now need to help support their parents, or grand parents. Or they won't be able to get birth control. Use those "scary voices" to tell the truth.

Whatever the reason, it's BS. I wish we could hold those bastards' feet to the fire.

(308 posts)Part of this is the DNC's fault. They have been very slow out of the gate this year, and have not gone after many of the vulnerabilities and skeletons Mitt has. They need to show that half-way through his term, he announced he wasn't running for re-election, and made running for President his priority instead of governing. He spent 200 days outside the state during his term, registered to run for President before he was even finished, and his approval rating fell to 34% before he left office. He made visits to places like Iowa and changed his positions on abortion and other issues that were totally different from what he had said during the election.
Mitt just used the people of MA to get a term as Governor on his resume so that he could run for President. Once that was accomplished, he dumped the people of MA. The DNC should also remind people that MA voters disliked Romney so much they gave Democrat Deval Patrick a massive win, and the Republicans lost the Governorship for the first time in many years.
Perhaps the DNC is holding their fire until the Summertime when more Americans tune into the race.
