Leaked Docs Show Obama Team Wants Radical New Powers For CorporationsLast edited Wed Jun 13, 2012, 10:41 AM USA/ET - Edit history (1)
I don't know what to make of all this. For one thing, negotiations are about negotiating. You don't always get what you want. Secondly, no one know how much of a hand Obama had in all this, or if him simply signed off on it. The public is still under the impression that Corporate America is not the one running the show.
"Leaked Documents Show Obama Team Wants Radical New Powers For Multinational Corporations... And Broken Campaign Promises" The newly leaked document is one of the most controversial of the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade pact. It addresses a broad sweep of regulations governing international investment and reveals the Obama administration's advocacy for policies that environmental activists, financial reform advocates and labor unions have long rejected for eroding key protections currently in domestic laws. Under the agreement currently being advocated by the Obama administration, American corporations would continue to be subject to domestic laws and regulations on the environment, banking and other issues. But foreign corporations operating within the U.S. would be permitted to appeal key American legal or regulatory rulings to an international tribunal. That international tribunal would be granted the power to overrule American law and impose trade sanctions on the United States for failing to abide by its rulings. The terms run contrary to campaign promises issued by Obama and the Democratic Party during the 2008 campaign. "We will not negotiate bilateral trade agreements that stop the government from protecting the environment, food safety, or the health of its citizens; give greater rights to foreign investors than to U.S. investors; require the privatization of our vital public services; or prevent developing country governments from adopting humanitarian licensing policies to improve access to life-saving medications," Read the rest: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/06/13/obama-trade-document-leak_n_1592593.html

1. The only good thing to come out of this leak is that it should be proof that it is not anyone
|
in the Obama administration that is causing the leaks, and they should take their witch hunt elsewhere.
This is going to piss off alot of Dems. |

5. Thats one reason that I have to wonder if it actually true
|
its not that hard to doctor up some documents that look real enough. And that would be a good way to piss off one sides base. I'm not saying they aren't true, but I am weary of any "leaked" documents.

9. FUD, you haz it.

Short on fact, long on speculation.
There is no way that foreign corporations will be able to use a supra-national tribunal to impose their rules in violation of American law. Public Citizen running around with their heads cut off, looking to score some donations off of the gullible. |

15. Don't Worry - It Won't Get Through Congress.....
|
cause anything Obama wants - the Repugs run against it. The House under Boehner will pass something completely opposite of this and if anything gets to the Senate - the Repugs or Dems will filibuster it - depending on who proposed it.
Maybe Obama is using reverse psychology. (sarcasm) |

|
The Huffington Puff can post a document and try to make us believe that Obama can snap his fingers and make all this so-called scary stuff happen, However they let Forked Tongue Romney tell any lie and not challenge him on it. The Huff Puff is a shit E-rag anyway...
