Minutes from 2003 meeting confirm: Dolan discussed paying $20,000 each to child molesters to quietly leave the priesthood
Policy appears to have been implemented, as revealed in church disbursements to pedophile clerics
Meeting also shows beginning of Dolan’s “shell game” by moving tens of millions of dollars into newly invented “trusts”

Why post this in Politics 2012? Because Cardinal Dolan is attempting to convince Catholics that Obama is persecuting the Church. Dolan is generally presented as a friendly but tough "man's man":

"The Voice of ‘No’ Delivered With Charm

Since arriving in New York from Milwaukee, Cardinal Dolan, who was born in Ballwin, Mo., has most often caught the public’s attention as the traditional unyielding Catholic voice of “no” — to same-sex marriage, to abortion, and to sex education in public schools.

But his overriding goal has been to be a force for restoring the image of the Catholic Church in America in the wake of the sexual abuse crisis. And the heart of this charm offensive has been the man himself — big, earthy and frequently funny. During one taping of his weekly radio show, he spent several minutes extolling the deliciousness of a box of fancy French pastries that a producer had brought him a gift. “I am going to give these to a hungry person,” said the cardinal. “Namely me at about 4 o’clock.”"

but the real nastiness has come out in the last few weeks as he's done everything short of endorsing Romney.
