Do Mass. Dems have short memories?

Martha CHOKE-ley is now trailing her Republican opponent by 9 points in the state's gubernatorial race, according to a poll released today by the Boston Globe. WTH were the Dems thinking in putting up that loser after she blew what should have been the easiest Senate race there just a few short years ago?? Talk about putting your hand on a hot stove TWICE!

I worked for Grossman during the primary. I mentioned Martha's record on a daily basis.

Do be fair the globe has a terrible track record. They had her winning the primary by 20 she won by 5.

The problem is Baker not a tea party whack job. He is pro-choice and pro marriage equality.

They elect Republican governors frequently. MA is predominantly Democratic, but it's not predominantly liberal or progressive. When everybody is a Democrat, there is a wide variance in political outlooks: much of it is far more conservative than people think.

Plus, she's a really bad candidate, I take it. When I lived there, I'm sure I voted for her several times as AG. But then who really notices who the AG candidate is? I'm sure I'd vote for her if I lived there now (I've never voted for a Republican, to any office, in my 45 years of voting). But many MA Democrats are happy to vote for a Republican governor to offset the all-Democratic state government.

When she ran for Senate against Brown, I was called in to phone bank (from IL) for her (via OFA). I was given a list of Democratic voters, and was damned shocked at the responses I got. Things I honestly wouldn't repeat here. It was devastating, and I knew well before the election that it spelled doom.

They labor under the delusion that the all Dem legislature needs to be offset by a Republican governor. Remember that we've had Cellucci, Weld, Swift, and Romney, spanning 16 years from '91 to '07.
In its history, the state has had 19 Democratic governors, and 31 Republican, along with a smattering of other.

She's portrayed in the Hillary Swank movie "Conviction." Someone she prosecuted was proven innocent of murder and as AG she refused to spring him from jail.

Second, as a Clinton delegate (reads acolyte) she publically snubbed the Democratic nominee during the Unity event and fundraiser the summer of 2008.

Both douche-y. Plus she lost Teddy's seat to an empty suit. Yep, Martha Coakley tres incompetent.

I'm not saying it's Mississippi but I was up there for 5 years of college and there's a lot of hate towards the State House. Even among Dems. A few people told me it has to do with the state legislature being filled with the spoiled rich kids from everyone's high school. Republicans are gaining ground up there.
