Why are so many people around the world trying to kill each other?

Where do they really think this will end? Or don't they care.

Also - I live in north central Washington state where we are currently surrounded by wildfire, with high level evacuations of upwards of 1000 homes and at least 11 burned so far.

Well, you know what? I'm in Washington state: I'm going to self-medicate under our new legalized recreational marijuana law.

At least there's that!

"Illegal Smile"

When I woke up this morning, things were lookin' bad
Seem like total silence was the only friend I had
Bowl of oatmeal tried to stare me down... and won
And it was twelve o'clock before I realized
That I was havin'... no fun

[Chorus:]
But fortunately I have the key to escape reality
And you may see me tonight with an illegal smile
It don't cost very much, but it lasts a long while
Won't you please tell the man I didn't kill anyone
No I'm just tryin' to have me some fun

Last time I checked my bankroll,
It was gettin' thin
Sometimes it seems like the bottom
Is the only place I've been
I Chased a rainbow down a one-way street... dead end
And all my friends turned out to be insurance salesmen

[Chorus]

Well, I sat down in my closet with all my overalls
Tryin' to get away
From all the ears inside my walls
I dreamed the police heard
Everything I thought... what then?
Well I went to court
And the judge's name was Hoffman

Ah but fortunately I have the key to escape reality
And you may see me tonight with an illegal smile
It don't cost very much, but it lasts a long while
Won't you please tell the man I didn't kill anyone
No I'm just tryin' to have me some fun
Well done, hot dog bun, my sister's a nun

[On the 1997 LIVE ON TOUR Prine ends the song with:]
Well done, son of a gun,
Hot dog bun,
Attilla the Hun,
My sister-in-law is an Irish nun

it is hard for me at least to not find it quite realistic that millions and millions of humans are seriously totally fucked up. I'm glad you can self-medicate under your new legalized recreational marijuana law.

I have a lot of envy over your new law.

Far as the wild fires go, its a shame for your state to burn. What do you think is the problem? Is it the change in native species, plants and native grazing animals removed? climate change?

If it's drought like Ca., I wish someone would learn to remove the salt from your close & rising pacific sea...pipe in enough fresh water to water everything.

although I don't want to put up with humidity and snow.

I would love to self medicate on days like this but I can't drink and that's all we have here.

Maybe I should take my Flexeril according to directions, every 6 hours, and sleep through the next several days.

that a line has been crossed. I believe there are terrorist forces, esp. right now in eastern Ukraine, and including support of Putin, who would be just as happy to take everything down, and have the means to do it.

Oh, and I also think the previous lost Malaysian airplace was a rehearsal.

Disparate groups do not peace. They want power, control, a hedonistic lifestyle, and they want all other disparate groups dead, and they don't care who else dies in pursuit of these goals.

This shit has been going on for a long time. The only thing new is that Americans are just becoming more and more aware of it. Everyone else knew.

I know you are right. It is only our relatively recent westernized history that has kept this from coming home to roost - so far...

Bigotry, racism, hatred, fear, anger, lust, ignorance, upbringing, mental illness, brainwashing, justice, argument. I'm sure there are many more. Some just want to see their name in the paper.

Fortunately they are outnumbered by those who would stop to fix your flat tire and not want money or to kill you; and those who open their wallets to fellow humans in need without requiring thanks or publicity.

If we heard more about these guys in the news we might be a less cynical nation.

In a very primitive way, more power meant more food, resources, better shelter which also meant getting the more desirable mates. It is still the same basic instincts but on a larger scale, fueled by religion and tribalism.
