Ann Romney revealed for the first time she had a health "scare" during the days leading up to the Super Tuesday primary contests, indicating that her battle with multiple sclerosis could limit the time she spends on the trail with her husband.
"There have been some days, like the day before Super Tuesday, I was quite fatigued and I knew I couldn't quit. I didn't tell anybody I was tired," Romney told "Entertainment Tonight's" Nancy O'Dell, when asked how her multiple sclerosis diagnosis affects her time on the trail.
"I just kept going, I kept going. I had a little bit of a scare," Romney said in clips released before the full interview airs Thursday.

(9,999 posts)There, I just had more empathy and compassion for her in that one sentence than she has had for any one not in her station in her life. I think that this woman is poised to give Queen Nancy (Reagan) a run for her money in the entitlement department.

(34,655 posts)it's sad to not have the stamina to maintain our dreams at a level that's also fair to others.
I've been there. She should make an honest assessment.

(34,655 posts)but nowhere near as tired as the the old Mr. Monopoly crap her hubby spouts.
Same shit since the days when Henry Ford and his wacky pals wanted to coup FDR's ass.

(30,947 posts)I worked with a girl who was only in her 20s and developed MS. For a while she came to work using a cane, then had to take time off because of her illness. She finally had to quit because of the illness.

(7,429 posts)Look, I've seen many people with MS. Ann looks to be in pretty good shape. And I know why - she has the money to afford the medication and therapy needed. There are many other women/men who are unable to afford that, though. Now she's using her MS as an excuse for her mi-speaking about anything.
Look Ann - we know what you meant about the dog, about stay-at-home mothers, and about your liar of a husband. And I'm not buying your problem is the MS. It's just you and your Mom-Jeans wearing husband who are out of touch dolts.

(10,133 posts)Aren't all the horses supposed to be therapy for her MS? That's what the Rmoney camp keeps saying.
Of course, I'm not a doctor, and my knowledge of MS comes from a friend whose physical condition deteriorated rather rapidly (she talks more coherently and with more empathy for her fellow humans than does Ms Romney, though). If I were feeling cynical I might make some comment about how this announcement just happens to come when she's getting flak for putting her foot in her mouth, but it's a nice day so I'll just say, Ann, go home, count your blessings and think of all the women who live from day to day with chronic illness and without household help.

(31,997 posts)she got hammered for her gaffes so now she plays the "I'm sick" card
Well Ann, let me tell you what it is really like.
I am a teacher, I have CANCER and I love to work. I love working with my students but I ended up in the hospital again and because of that, I am now in DEDUCT. SO every time I get sick, I have to ask myself am I 350 dollars sick because that is how much it costs me to stay home each day.
I don't have the "Luxury" of resting whenever I need.

But she is still far luckier than a great many others suffering from the same malady.

(27,787 posts)Mrs. Romney, as one who has to battle with MS, do you think that every American who struggles with that condition should have the same level of treatment that you can afford?
Or, to put it another way, should those Americans with MS, receive varying levels of treatment that are commensurate with their personal wealth and personal ability to pay for their treatment?
Well?
