Papa John's CEO to host a fundraiser for Mitt Romney

Papa John's CEO and founder John Schattner is hosting a fundraiser in his home today in Louisville, Ky. for Mitt.

I thought DUer's might like to know when deciding on where to get your next pizza.

2. well, that leaves me with 2 options for pizza delivery: a fundie place

that insists on putting "Jesus loves you" signs and other "inspirational messages" on their marquee and another that makes horrible pizzas. Guess I'll make my own.

11. I've only tried Papa John's pizza once, when my boss sprang for it.

It's not great. Fortunately, there is a local "Mom & Pop" place that makes better pizza.

Tom Monaghan, the founder of Domino's, is so Catholic he makes Rick Santorum look like Michael Newdow.

Maybe it is time to stop eating big chain restaurant pizzas. We have Ledo's here in Maryland. Family owned business and good pizza also.

14. Who Needs Their Crappy Pizza

I am not a pizza eater .. rarely. Just a bunch of dough with some crap that's bad for you slathered over the top. I certainly won't be choosing Papa John's though in the future .. if I do decide to order pizza. We have a Pizza Hut and a Dominos, right next door to the Papa John's. Like everybody in the U.S.

Even when considering the locally owned places. I'm now in Kansas City and discovering some great pizza places.

16. Crap. I like their pizza way better than Hut. I don't have pizza often, but

when I do, it's usually theirs. I guess I have to start shopping around. In this podunk town there aren't many choices. 25 miles away there are some good choices, but not right down the road.

Papa John's should be having a fundraiser for the employees. Maybe get them some health insurance and a decent wage.

30. Support your local pizzeria here

Now granted I am biased because I live in an area with good pizza and can't fathom choosing chain pizza over local pizza.

Besides the Mom and Pop stores need your business more than chains do.

37. It SUCKS!!! The sauce is so sugary sweet & plastic cheese! If no actual Italian restaurant around

By all means make your own pizza -- in a pinch even fake-out "pizza" on tortillas, half a bagel, or french bread is better than the chain stuff if you have nice ingredients on top!

38. Papa John's CEO, ignores possible fallout from his backing of Mitt Romney!

"Papa"John obviously doesn't give a "rat's ass" about the welfare of his franchise owners in terms of possible fallout, by flaunting his relationship with job killer, and dog abuser, Mitt Romney! Remember, the money franchisers have to pay goes to Schattner, so he can throw lavish parties for Mitt, and grease his palm with some dough!

but i must say i still think their Pizza is the best of the major chains. I'm not one to boycott someone just because of who they support politically so i'll still buy from them every once in a while.

41. Yes it is, and so is Domino's - both are absolute garbage

and no, i'm not just saying that because Papa John CEO is hosting fundraiser for Romney, and Domino's founder is religious right kook extraordinere, their pizza truly is garbage, would be better to eat the bugs/insects contestants eat on "Fear Factor"...Not sure what causes (whether or not its Democratic or Repub) Pizza Hut & Chuck E Cheese support, but their pizza is pretty bad as well...

In my view, the best pizza places are the ma & pop outfits anyway...The big chains are simply awful...

44. I'm lucky to live in New Haven, which has the best pizza in the U.S. My own neighborhood

pizza place is a hole in the wall on Dayton Street, a few blocks from my house. They also make nice fresh salads and make their own soups which are remarkable. I don't live downtown where the "famous" New Haven pizza places are, but mine is just as outstanding. And they deliver!
