Ready to charge the GOP Leadership with treason yet?

MILITARY DEPLOYMENTS ON HOLD BECAUSE OF THE SEQUESTER.

A threat to national security.

DELIBERATE GOP (IN)ACTION threatening security and threatening the country...

failing that.. the sequester is a threat to national security so, an executive order putting it on hold would be in order?

2. Spin alert: Projected military cuts are never harmful to contractors.

All we hear is ...

"We can't meet our mission."

"Most of our aircraft will be unflyable."

"The troops will be without body armor and bullets."

You never hear "Raytheon will just have to suck it up this year."

... I'd live to see the Raytheon stockholders suck it up.

6. Nice switch there. Lets talk about the employees.

These are everyday people working for money to pay the rent/mortgage and provide for their families. What should happen to them?

What should happen to the 800,000 DOD Civil Servants who face a 20% pay cut? A 20% cut isn't easy to shake off.

I wish some here would accept the reality that normal people do work for the DOD and it's contractors. And if we lay them off there are no jobs out there for them. There is no imaginary green jobs network that will snatch them up and employ them.

If you still think they should suffer, then just come straight out and say it! Don't switch to CEOs and try to ignore the obvious.

7. Wherever the government cuts spending, real-life every day people feel it.

Now I happen to value the work product of teachers and nurses more than I do the work product of defense industry workers. Note that I didn't say I value the workers more, just their work product.

If we have to make cuts, I'd rather see them from defense contractors than nurses and teachers. But that's just me.

8. Teachers versus defense industry workers is a false dichotomy.

Sure, we could make reductions in a smart manner that wouldn't reduce too many jobs, mainly ending the wars. But I would keep spending up and make it up with taxes.

Laying off hundreds of thousands wouldn't help our economy at all.

21. So you DON'T want to cut the Pentagon budget?

Here's a clue. If that giant scarfing pig called the DoD gets its ridiculous budget cut (80% sounds like a good start), then yes, people will lose their jobs.

How bizarre that 2+2 is so tricky for some to compute.

24. So you don't care about middle class jobs?

Where are these people going to go? I oppose austerity. If we want to make drastic cuts, we need to do it when we have an economy that can take in those laid off. And right now is not that time.

Oh, and DOD doesn't mean Republican. We're talking about major damage to democratic areas like northern VA.

19. That is the downside of contract work. There is no guarantee that your boss gets contracts forever

edited to add, the DOD has for decades given many contracts as NO BID to some companies.

The DOD is finally going to have to aduit their bloated over spending and cut some of the fat to find funds for the critical contracts.

11. Treason: -

- the offense of attempting by overt acts to overthrow the government of the state to which the offender owes allegiance or to kill or personally injure the sovereign or the sovereign's family

if you don't think the GOP is trying to overthrow and destroy the government, you're not paying attention.

15. It is no different than

1860 when they saw another elected President threatened their golden cow. And it is like Lincoln said then. It is up to them to make the choice. They are in the minority. This country made a choice which way they wanted to go. Those loopholes need to close. People did not consider that choice would be on the backs of anybody, but people who have not payed their fair share as citizens of this country.

What they want us to cut is Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, which people paid into. None of it is wasteful spending. What has been wasteful spending are the loopholes given to people that hasn't produced in the economy. There have been no taxes raised in the last twelve years. And the Republicans are lying about Greece and Spain. Did anyone read the news from Spain about corruption. The same corruption happened in Greece and it is happening here. Maybe the DOJ need to start putting some people in jail. Start with Sheldon Adeleson and the Koch brothers. Confiscate everything they own too and sell it.

17. The United States Constitution:

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court. The Congress shall have Power to declare the Punishment of Treason, but no Attainder of Treason shall work Corruption of Blood, or Forfeiture except during the Life of the Person attainted.

Cutting the defense budget isn't treason. In fact, its something progressive Democrats have sought for many years.

Kidding. I do wish people would get off the meme of screaming "treason" everytime someone else does something they don't like.

Sounds stupid when they do it. Sounds stupid when we do it.

28. The Sequester is a law passed by Congress and signed by the President.

If you want to charge people with treason then you will have to charge everyone who voted for it, R and D, and the President who signed it. They all enabled it. Executive orders do not trump congressional laws. Orders can't change or cancel laws.

Military deployments are a threat to national security. Stopping them should be applauded.
