4. She presented the Oscar for the best movie which turned out to be "Argo".

I wonder if they knew ahead of time since it was a sort of political movie. Or, maybe they thought "Zero Dark Thirty" was going to win since it happened in Obama's Administration.

9. I never get to see the movies until way after the Oscars, when they

show up on HBO or other cable channels so I can't pass judgement myself.

11. It was very good. But amazes me that it can beat out a masterpiece like Lincoln. nt

5. She thanked everyone who makes movies

for inspiring people to work hard & do their best to fulfill their dreams. The movie business employs a lot of people. So it made sense. To me, at least.

10. I agree. The movie business IS an American industry. I see now problem helping it along...

but then I'm a big Democrat and I absolutely LOVE Michelle...so I might be a bit prejudiced...ya think?...

12. And, Ben Affleck accepted and I know he is a huge Pres Obama fan.. Sweet!

BEST PICTURE: ARGO

with Grant Hezlov

Ben Affleck and his co-producers (one of whom is George Clooney) are on stage to accept their awards. Affleck acknowledges Steven Spielberg as a genius, tears through his thank yous -- adding "I want to thank Canada" in a heartfelt acceptance speech.

This marks only the second time in the past 30 years that a film has won Best Picture without garnering a direction nomination. The other was 'Driving Miss Daisy' in 1989.
