An American Pope?

This thought just came to me out of nowhere. In what country does the Church have the most problems, on all levels? Who is very conservative and most outspoken, and militant? Is it possible the Cardinals might consider an American Pope? If so, Cardinal Dolan would be at the top of the list. Although I am no longer Catholic, I find this a horrifying thought.

4. He is drooling at the possibility

Met him twice -- you can almost smell the gigantic ambition.

They LOVED him in Milwaukee while he pulled all sorts of crap to protect pedophile priests. Why? Because he is jolly.

6. He was so smarmy & oily on the Today Show this morning that

even though I'd just gotten out of the shower, I felt the need to take another one. Ugh!

I'm not Catholic--my mom was abused by Catholic nuns in the Indian school they forced her into, so all I heard growing up was, "Poop Paul this and Poop Paul that", LOL.

5. I doubt it will be an American...

the leadership of the Church does not hold a high regard for the American branch or its leadership (or the European branch either). The Church is gaining followers in Asia, Latin America and Africa; I think the push will be to elect a Pope from one of those areas.

9. A pope from those areas would make sense

The Philippines has a very high percentage of Catholics.

The US is way too liberal (and I mean that in a good way).

7. The church is getting less white and less northern

Look for a nonwhite candidate from Africa or Latin America. The cardinals see where the church is headed.

8. Do they have anyone leigitimate to be the pope?

Do they have anyone that had the respect and stature as the previous pope?

10. I think the next pope should be from Mexico

He should then choose the name Pocatepetl.

Then he can be Pope Pocatepetl.

13. You presume a mass knowledge of Mexican topography

A risky assumption at best!

12. I'm still holding out for that cool Cardinal from the Dominican Republic.

The one that likes to party with Bono.
