Coakley(D-MA) is seeking re-election as Attorney General instead of running for GOV.

Murray is out, Galvin enjoys being Secretary of State,
That leaves Steve Grossman as the leading Democratic candidate for the 2014 MA Governors Race.

1. Murray really screwed himself with that car accident.

Truly sad.

Steve Grossman, Mike Lake, Capuano, Setti Warren, Kim Driscoll, Curtatone?

2. Plus his association with Chelsea's McLaughlin.

He'd be tough to vote for. Better that he's gone now.

3. Unfortunately, politics in Massachusetts (and I'm sure other places) is full of patronage

Big donors asking elected officials to get state jobs for their kids, friends getting jobs for friends, people climbing over other people brutally to get a few crumbs. Wonder a lot of them have any self respect.

4. Looks like her fellow Democrats made it clear...

that after her incompetent campaign running against Scott Brown for Ted Kennedy's seat, they're not going to give her another shot at a seat with that kind of stakes.

5. That was a horrible race, and a horribly run campaign.

I think the field was too crowded here, particularly with Pagliuca and Khazei. I was a Capuano supporter, and still am. Martha Coakley is wonderful in person, really alive and warm. That warmth never came across to voters.

6. MarthaCoakley,

and others, mistakenly believed Kennedy's seat was theirs simply for the asking.

The Dems learned bitter lesson.
