When prices are back to $1.86 like they were when Bushy Jr. left office I'm going to really start to crow..If BO can get them even lower than that, we should have an appreciation march : )

...Once he can get it down, the cost of Milk, bread and especially the heavy canned goods will drop back down close to where they were as well..I am getting killed on groceries this year and paying double to fill my tank is not helping either..My little station wagon (I need it for my Dogs) has a 15 gallon tank..The cost of fuel raises the price on everything you buy from a store..

Have you noticed the cost of shipping?..USPS, UPS and FedEx have all gone up 30% in the last 2.5 years due to fuel being so expensive and unless its a business or home in the city they charge an additional fuel surcharge

I'm glad I own my own business but even so the xtra 2% Social Security tax this month (and from now on) is not really helping me either..I kind of got used to it during Barack's Tax holiday for the past 2 years..it wasnt all that much but it did help while everything is still so much higher.

I just wish they could have raised more on the wealthy "Hollywood types" or those sports guys during the cliff compromise and not had to raise all our taxes again..

Time for Tea..at least the well water is still free : )

One of the best ways to do this is through Govt. Stimulus.
Work Projects, low cost loans etc. That way more people would
be walking around with more money in their hands to buy what you’re selling!.
The 2% you are so interested in does nothing to help the overall state of the economy!

Be interested in what kind of business you own....

15. Wow! kind of condescending aren't you?

I know I'm new here but even so..I think by now everyone knows Bush tanked the economy with his wars..Even we "girls" figured that out

I'm not sure what you mean with that last line but I hope its not some juvenile "Oldest profession" fantasy your having

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt this time and tell you I work part time at my Fathers firm where they do take out taxes..And yes I'm expected to show up and perform.. not just be Daddy's little girl..Funny how they manage to find projects I can wrap my pretty little head around.

I've been showing and raising Border Collies since I was twelve and my first year in College I started an Ebay oriented business selling items I make by hand..at this point I have over 7000 sales to 12 countries and its been growing every year.

Oh and by the way you are completely wrong on stimulus..We just had the largest ever in history without any improvement in the economy or jobs..a slight fluctuation from one month to the next is meaningless

I think many of us understand what happened with gas prices..Obama came from the outside and is a citizen soldier..the speculators and big oil used his naivety to their advantage early on and drove prices as high as they could..Of course he has to play catch up and he IS catching up..I have faith that he can bring prices even lower once hes involved with his governing instead of having to campaign all the time.

It should be obvious that double the price of gas means double the profits for big oil..How can you expect him to go any faster when they not only started the race early when he wasnt ready and now have so much collateral to fight him with?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now your turn BB..what kind of entrepreneur are you?.. I mean if you have the time to explain and your Mom doesn't need you upstairs for something : ) ( just kidding but your are harshing on me)

and the rest of you Boys piling on (you know who you are)..You need to come out of the fort sometime..We dont really have Kooties..some of us actually have a brain!

First of all it wasn’t big enough. The states basically took their portion of the money and saved thousands
of Police,Fire,Teacher jobs and with the rest sured up part of their own deficits....Money continued to roll into the economy because jobs were saved. Just looked how the employment numbers began to drop after the govt. funds settled.

Now, when I was new I got my ass kicked around pretty good.I actually got kicked off the site for a week...So let me welcome you and tell you that I have been in high end retail my entire working career. My Girlfriend and I opened up a boutique in L.A. In 1995 and were very successful.

I’ve worked for woman my whole life before opening a store. Don’t have to tell me about woman’s strengths in business, I know it first hand. The bosses I had were super smart, demanding but fair..
Unlike most of the men I worked with. They were too interested in the Good Old Boys Club....
I hated that stuff. That being said, how about a picture......2009? You sound.......Kidding!!

The economy was on its deathbed after Bush was done mangling it.

Nobody was buying gas.

It was not Bush genius that drove the gas price low.

The lower Bush taxes on anyone earning less than $400,000 were made permanent by President Obama. The 'raise' in taxes of 2% was because his tax holiday ended. President Obama lowered the amount we would be putting into social security by 2% for a couple of years so we would have more money during the hardest times. That ended. Your taxes are now paying into Social Security again.

You'll appreciate it when you get older.

...but the last line of my response was to the poster who wants to give kudos to Bush and his policies for $1.86/gal gas. That poster implying that Bush had something to do with the price of gas. It only make sense that if one President has responsiblity and gets the glory, that he should also get the blame and responsibility for the whole crappola.

btw...I do think policy does have a hand in the economy.

I didn't think she was giving Bush any credit at all. She was simply stating she would be glad to see prices return to that level so we could further rub it in Republicans faces. At least that's the impression I got when I read it...and re read it.
I don't think the President has much at all to do with the price of gas. As a matter of fact, I strongly believe the prices were manipulated by the oil companies to try and place the blame on Obama in the most ignorant voters minds, prior to the election.

That's all my opinion of course. I have nothing but my own observations to support it.

When some states wanted to raise the gas STATE tax price and the federal gov, presidents admin said no..that's a price savings for us too.

The glut of barrels of crude made the price go down. This admin. seems to not allow the price setting, speculation like in the past.

Cars require better MPG, that came out of this admin. Feds sent to states like Alaska to oversee their oil/gas companies deals, that came out of this Admin. aswell.

The 'shortage because of refinary' down was revealed to be a lie. Think the companies that wholesale gasoline are trying to wring-out as much profit as they can as Americas use continues to drop.

They will never stop trying to raise the price as much as they are allowed to get away with. But President Obama has done as much as he could to get a handle on them.

I wish we had a Oil drilling and refined gas station sales owned by us through the Federal gov. Similar to mexicos pemax is owned by their citizens. That brings much revenue directly to the central gov., keeps their prices lower and pays for their healthcare system.

George Pataki was talking about gas prices and how it was Obama's fault the prices were so high. Absolutely. When the interviewer pointed out that the gas prices reached similar highs during Bush's term Pataki didn't miss a beat and said that those prices weren't Bush's fault. Not at all.

Do they even listen to themselves?
