Bill Kristol’s big plans start with derailing Chuck Hagel nomination

One Kristol-linked group, the Emergency Committee for Israel, has already aired ads targeting former Sen. Chuck Hagel, who is Obama’s nominee for defense secretary and is planning a “substantial” paid-media campaign opposing the nomination. Kristol believes Hagel is both a “bitter opponent of Israel” and “very weak on Iran.”

It won’t end with Hagel, either. Another Kristol-linked group, the Center for American Freedom, has signaled its intent to go after other prospective Obama nominees.
Plus, Kristol and his allies have been talking about starting a “reformist” organization to recraft Republican fiscal policies and champion a rising generation of Republicans, such as Kristol favorites Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan. The hypothetical group,

2. Okay

Reading this and seeing how this is going - I think we need to blindly support any President Obama wants to nominate. For anything.

These f*cker heads are basically pissed off spoiled brats who missed their mark (making him a one term President) and so now in their petulant whiny glory are trying to get him to select jerks like the Koch brothers for these positions.

Love how they obstruct but have NO suggestions. I almost wish Obama would 'float' he's picking one of these 'monied' power players just to see what thesed worthless jackhammers would do.

10. I think it depends on whether filibuster reform is passed

If it isn't, I can see them putting together a list of 41 and even the possibility of a few very liberal Democrats breaking rank who want to kill the nomination. If the reform is passed, I think it won't be tough at all.

9. You mean Bill "Chicken Hawk" Kristol? THAT Kristol?

Every veteran's group is strongly supporting Hagel. This is going to cause problems for McCain and his "concerns" about Hagel as well. Lindsey Graham and McCain may just piss off veterans enough to make things difficult for them when they are up for reelection.

13. Is there an inexhaustible supply of creatures...

...who are privileged beyond belief but have never been elected to so much as dogcatcher yet think they have the right to set policy?

14. Yes.

And an inexhaustible supply of moderate Republicans to burn at their stake, as well.
