CONSPIRACY TIME! President Obama could get 3 terms if H.J.Res 15 abolishes term limits

Obama hasn't even started his second term and we already have a new conspiracy - he's going to circumvent the constitution to run for a 3rd term!

Americans around the nation were shocked Friday as they heard about H.J.Res. 15. H.J.Res 15 proposes an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the Twenty-second Amendment. This would remove the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as President. Rep. Josť Serrano (D- NY15) introduced the controversial joint resolution on Friday, the second day of the 2013 legislative session.

Were you outraged? ARE YOU AMERICAN?!

Thing is, Rep. Serrano has introduced this same proposal at the beginning of every new congress since the 90s. Yes, even when Bush was president. But that hasn't stopped the conspiracy nuts from freaking out. Seriously. Read the comments. One man says we need to hang Serrano for treason (uh...wut?).

This country of ours. amirite?

2. Don't tell them that Reagan strongly supported repealing the 22nd Amendment

and spoke many times about his opposition to term limits.

3. Here are a few more details...

In 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009 (HJR 5) and 2011 (HJR 17), Serrano introduced a joint resolution proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the 22nd Amendment, thereby removing the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as president. Each resolution, with the exception of the current one, died without ever getting past the committee.

4. Let the people decide. There were NO term limits in the constitution originally

I would love to vote for President Obama forever and a day

But we can console ourselves that after Hillary45, Michelle46 can have two terms
And maybe by that time they will let others come back so that Barack can be 47

repubs shot themselves in their ass when they put term limits in, as Ike and Reagan could have won a 3rd time
As could have Clinton (he would have run a better campaign in 2000 I bet than Al Gore did).

5. Term limits are right-wing anti-democratic bullshit, intended to fend off another FDR.

They like our Presidents weak and inexperienced.

6. It's a nice thought, but it will never happen

Constitutional amendments have such a high bar to cross.
