Regarding Sandy Relief Bill where is Rep John Lewis' name?

As far as I know he is still a U.S. House member.

Here is the roll call on the vote: http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2013/roll007.xml

I assumed he'd be in the 'not voting' section due to the recent death of his wife,

but he is NO where at all on the whole page.

Hmmm.

1. His wife died, maybe they made a mistake?

2. I just looked on all of the 113th Congress roll call votes and he's not on any of them ...

maybe because he hasn't been back to D.C. yet since his wife died and therefore hasn't been sworn back in yet in the new congressional session.

Could be that.

I hope it doesn't affect his seniority.

6. There were 4 representatives that were not present the first day...

And so apparently didn't get sworn in:

Blumenauer
Lewis
Lipinski
Roybal-Allard

3. If you add all the votes they only total to 429 (instead of 433 - 2 seats vacant).

So there are 4 representatives not listed.

Note that there were 4 representatives that weren't present the first day:

Blumenauer
Lewis
Lipinski
Roybal-Allard

5. Well, then I guess they are not counted in the 'not-voting' section on the other roll calls...

... until they are sworn in.

Strange.

7. In the newest roll call vote...

Lipinski is listed voting for the Sandy relief today so he's apparently in D.C. now.

Blumenauer, Lewis, and Roybal-Allard are still missing.

8. He was not sworn in yesterday, so he cannot be part of the roll call.

10. That was my guess in comment #5 too

I just figured that they'd still be listed in the 'not-voting' section to show that they weren't there,
but I guess they are not recognized at all until after they retake the oath.

I hope it doesn't affect his seniority.
