How will the slow Sandy Hurricane funding response effect the nation economically?

How will states and local government find revenue when taxes are not coming in from sales? Will there be layoffs in local govt?

1. The housing market is improving

Plus housing values are slowly increasing. That's what killed revenue during the economic collapse. Housing tax revenue went south and local governments weren't able to operate. But it's on the upswing now.

3. Not much tax revenue from homes that are no longer there.

2. Will surely have a negative effect on the local economies.

Don't know about other effects except to use logic to figure out.

4. Well, if businesses are still closed because of damage...

They aren't contributing. And if streets are still blocked or damaged, transportation of goods is harmed.

And their employees are most likely collecting unemployment which is another drain.
