Introducing Discussionist: A new forum by the creators of DU

Tue Jan 1, 2013, 02:22 AM

This is a serious, no Bullshit message to anyone that says this deal is "not enough", "a sellout"..

.. etc.

You now have two years to reshape the House, strengthen the Senate to ensure PBO does not have to make any deals with these bastards.

Put your momentum where your mouth is.

1. agreed

and this.... "If Republicans think that I will finish the job of deficit reduction through spending cuts alone," he said, "that's not how it's going to work."

2. But that would mean voting for democrats instead of passively bitching about them.

3. A hard pill to swallow for some

as it requires leaving the house in the middle of yet another self-righteous screed.

5. I don't know what I think about the deal yet because I don't know what the cuts will be, but

we "now have two years to reshape the House, strengthen the Senate to ensure PBO does not have to make any deals with these bastards" is the situation no matter what.

8. A suggestion, you should add a link to the thread by Tx4obama

with the details in it.

I agree with you. We are going to have to work a lot harder to take back the house, but also very hard to keep the Senate. It is not going to be an easy task.

to implement it.

where it belongs: On the Republicans!!

14. I agree 100%.

Also, we must do what the reactionaries have been doing since at least 1980. .. start getting progressives elected at the very local level--school boards, town councils, small town mayors, water agencies, public works departments, etc etc..
It will take years but, if we don't, then no matter what we do at the top, the country could keep rotting from the bottom.

Just a thought..

21. OMG. How terrible to be a minority. More bullshit.

The bullshit is in your silly equation that complaining about Obama's ineptitude would mean that the complainer isn't active in progressive local and state politics. I think you will find that those of us who are the most active complainers about Obama's poor negotiations (if indeed he isn't getting just what he wants regardless of how reaganesque the policy) are those who spend the most time doing the grunt work of local politics. Our efforts being thwarted by left of liberal president are the reasons we gripe.

18. +1

I live in Mississippi. There is ZERO chance of me getting a Democrat elected in my district. I donated money and gave support to Democratic candidates in other states who I felt had a chance of winning. I know Democrats who did not vote a straight ticket because they felt we needed "balanced representation"!!! What kind of f'n stupidity is that!!
I worked to put Dems in office in my state Mr. OP. Since Travis Childers, whom I worked for and supported, it hasn't done a bit of good! The Democrats caved!! Obama caved! I don't know what planet you all live on it or how you perceive the world, but you obviously aren't seeing the same things I am.

it'll be easy as pie. meanwhile, you can continue to help me starve while not helping me because i was stupid enough to be born to a poor family in alabama.

and challenge worth undertaking. And increase our senate numbers too.

24. It's not us...

It's the 47.21% of the country or 60,931,959 people who voted for Romney that are keeping these lamers in office. It's that group of people who need to change how they vote otherwise we're going to see more of the same.

(numbers from here)
