Thank you Mr. President Obama

I would like to thank President Obama for finally calling out the Republicans yesterday for the nation to see. Mr. President, you have a good heart, and genuinely want to reach a compromise. But it is clear that you are finding it difficult given what you are up against.

President Obama has the gargantuan task of dismantling the hatred of the right to even begin to reach the moderate Republicans on the other side. This is something that is becoming more clearer as each day passes. Listening to right wing radio, and right wing talking points that my relatives find intrigued by I am reeling in horror as I delve deeper into this world.

There is a very strong belief on the right that they must arm themselves with survival knowledge, and weapons to combat Obama and Agenda 21 of the UN. That is to starve the population off and take away resources in a nutshell. Furthermore, homosexuality I learned (lol) is part of Agenda 21 according to right wing hate radio. BTW both Obama and Javier Solana are in cohoots with Agenda 21 and are considered both the anti-Christ.

This is a common sentiment throughout the south of the United States, and anyone that doesn't tell you otherwise hasn't picked up an NRA magazine recently, attended a christian convention, or other conservative gathering. It is a real sentiment that flows like an undercurrent and is not visible on the surface. But it is there, and I find it disturbing given how many people support this undercurrent. All these "Christian" people talked about were how there would be a big war with Iran in 2012, and now that this has not come to fruition they have moved onto the "world government is out to get us" meme. The world government to challenge the United States "freedom" and "prosperity". You can't make this up because I am seeing this with my own eyes, and the more questions I ask about all of this the more worried I am about the short term health of this country. When you have a segment of society that doesn't believe in science at all or logical discourse it simply creates a schism.

President Obama will definitely go down as the most underrated President in our lifetimes given what he is facing.

1. Obama will not go down as under-rated. No matter what some may think, from ACA, DOMA, Fiscal reform

some very significant legislation went through his first term, and the story is not finished.

The most underrated presidents were Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter.

2. I hope you are right

because I think people vastly underestimate how much opposition there is though. For what Obama has been able to accomplish it it still impressive. You can argue he could have done more when the iron was hot, or had more political capital to do so. But in the end what he has accomplished thus far definitely is surprising given the resistance no U.S. President has ever faced like he has.

7. I, too, liked the fact that the President finally (and very meekly) called out the Republicans

just a bit yesterday.

But he needs to be much stronger in what he says.

The people who gravitate to the Republican Party believe in strong authority (unfortunately). They only respect threats and anger and fear. That is not Obama's style, not his nature, so he is in a quandry about how to deal with them.

In my opinion, Obama should not hesitate to be much stronger, far more critical and "meaner" to them. It is not his nature, but he needs to do it. That is the only way he will earn their respect. I

Obama has a tough job, but he has to really be tough to do it. That seems to be very hard for him. He seems to be more of a lover than a fighter. It's best to be both and know when to show which side of you.

Obama will not be underrated if he pulls in his tummy and straightens up his back and stands for what is right.

12. I agree with you

I think Obama should grow some balls. War mongerers(who ironically avoid enlisting) only understand war.

8. LOL, he's criticized the people who VOTED for him based on his own promises

a hell of a lot more than he's ever criticized repugs who regularly demonize him.

disrupting yet another vanity thread that is supposed to celebrate the 12D chess ass-kicking that's now allegedly been in progress for 5 years or so.

11. He is allowed to point out that he has critics from both sides.

In addition, he is also allowed to explain why he feels critics from both sides are not presenting realistic arguments. President Obama has always been pragmatic more so than idealistic, so this does not surprise me. If you disagree with his approach, which you may, that is fine. But asking him to change what he feels is best given he did win four more years seems strange to me.

10. He's got among the most thankless jobs in the world.

No matter what PBO does, he'll always have critics on both the right and the left. Despite all of what he accomplished the past few years like ending DADT, student loan reform, ending the Iraq War and winding down the Afghan War, and strengthening Affirmative Action, there are still Debbie Downers who are trying to say he's not far enough to the left or something. I watched his MTP interview yesterday, and he sounded like a man who was aware he has critics from both sides, but sincerely wants to get things done and do what is practical for the country and the working class. I respect him.
