Imprisonment Without Trial Is Back

http://www.businessinsider.com/imprisonment-without-trial-of-us-citizens-is-back-baby-2012-12

I've been covering NDAA off and on for the past year, and many people have told me it is a "complex, delicate" situation that is beyond the understanding of your average Joe.

I don't actually agree with this.

Our right to a trial is enshrined quite clearly in the Bill of Rights.

And the legislation as it stands now would allow members of the government to silence critics -- journalists, Wikileaks-funding millionaires, people critical of our drone strikes on children -- by merely suspecting them of terrorism. With no burden of proof needed. "Terrorism," it seems, is the new McCarthy-style buzzword to discredit and silence any political opponent.

1. this is possibly the most shameful thing the Obama administration has done

and there is plenty to choose from. Worst thing is we seem powerless to stop this crap, or to get people to care.

2. Yes, it is hard to pick just one action as the most shameful.

6. Don't worry

as long as the President is Barack Obama, or at least some other Democrat, you won't have to worry (much) about this power being misused. It does, however, make it more important now than ever to NEVER allow a Republican to be elected.

And we all know that will NEVER happen, right?

These people who think that any and all of these increasingly dictatorial powers being given to the Executive Branch are A.O.K. because B.O. is AWESOME are myopic. Some day a Republican WILL be in the oval office again, what then?

10. Its bizarre how things have flipped. It used to be we had no political crime in the US .....

only j-walkers, and trespassers and vandals. Now we attach "terrorism" (a political crime) to anyone we want to lock up without due process.
