DU evolution since the Spring

I can't find it but several months ago I posted a poll on, "Should the Dems refuse ANY benefit cuts on Medicare, Medicaid, SS?" It was unanimous (about 40-0) in the affirmative.

Now a sizeable chuck are on board with cuts.

No morals = no party.

1. The President go re-elected...

He no longer needs to even throw scraps to those of us who aren't on board with his warm and fuzzy centrist bipartisan legacy building.

He's more concerned with what folks like the Davids Gregory and Brooks think about him and whether or not he's reaching across the aisle than he is with doing what is right.

10. +1 ... but i'd say he still is a center-right president, not center.

Washington is very much to the Right which explains at least in part why Obama needs to be to the Right -- he is in the bubble.

2. C'mon. in out hearts we all knew he would cave, didn't we.

He was just much better than the alternative, that's all.

6. He didn't even cave. He leaped to the opportunity

to cut SS. The republicans never proposed a thing. This is his request.

3. Well, Medicare cuts are part of the fiscal cliff/slope, as are tax increases on the working poor.

So, it's not like it's a choice between sunshine and happiness on one side and benefit cuts on the other.

It's easy to take a DU poll and have people oppose bad things. But governing is more complicated.

7. The point is that it's more complicated than "just say no to stuff we don't like" nt

8. Yeah. george told us it was hard.

He said he couldn't do stuff cause it was hard. Golly. If only Democrats had someone who could figure out complicated stuff. Gee. That would be nice.

4. I'm not on board with benefit cuts.If you inspect the proposals there are exemptions.

My focus on the current Federal gov, is those Bush tax cuts expire. Everything else will fall into place. Thank God, Romney didn't win or today most Democrats would have a lot more to worry about.

9. THANK YOU! We need a 3rd Party -- Todays Democrats are Wholly Owned...

and Most on DU gladly stick their Head in the sand about it.

I'd love to see a viable 3rd Party formed called the Liberal Democratic Party that can house REAL Democrats because i feel most so called democrats (like on DU) are really moderate republicans, as Obama clearly is. We need a party that represents the people and not special interests.

I've been pointing out the same hypocrisy of DU for months now but being told to shut up and bend over and accept the new reality. Truly embarrassing to see how our base has lost its identity.
