I expect them to make asses of themselves, blaming the victims or calling for everyone in public schools to be armed to the teeth.

NRA STATEMENT

The National Rifle Association of America is made up of four million moms and dads, sons and daughters – and we were shocked, saddened and heartbroken by the news of the horrific and senseless murders in Newtown.

Out of respect for the families, and as a matter of common decency, we have given time for mourning, prayer and a full investigation of the facts before commenting.

The NRA is prepared to offer meaningful contributions to help make sure this never happens again.

The NRA is planning to hold a major news conference in the Washington, DC area on Friday, December 21.

Details will be released to the media at the appropriate time.

everything and we are not to worry. They will lay out a fantastical narrative where every gun owner has a personal psychiatrist with approrpiate drugs on call to administer the chemicals that will change people who are prone to commit gun violence into law abiding gun owners and all will be well in the land.

The NRA will not mean anything they say anyway.
I did sight word flashcards with the kids at my girls' school today (in Terryville). I volunteer some time every week to come in. The teachers now all have their keys on them and lock the doors in and out of the classroom. Some teachers are carrying walkie talkies on them. There was a police officer the last three days at the school. It is surreal and yet what else can the schools do? The NRA obviously doesn't care about children.
