5. Well, "legislation" can often lag behind cultural shifts

My OP wasn't about which legislation will be passed -- politicians still being, on the whole, a corrupt and pathetic lot.

This was about a change in cultural attitudes. And guns, I think, are on their way to becoming as culturally "cool" as driving drunk or having separate hotel entrances for different races.

You really think Texas and all those red states are going to undergo a cultural change? You are not paying attention to they and their elected officials are saying.

I'm talking about attitudes in the mainstream, but yes, as with much else in American life, it will probably settle into a schism....

winning margins.

all moderate to right leaning states with strong history of gun ownership. Now try to imagine a Democrat winning the presidency without those states.

The "mainstream" means nothing when it comes to the electoral math - you are playing with fire.
