1. Thank you. And we all don't have the right to marry who we love.

but have easy access to guns to kill strangers with.

4. there is something dreadfully wrong

guns are the tragedy that is sinking the nation, much as other empires had their tragic weaknesses.

7. I was thinking the same thing last week when the shooting at the Oregon mall took place.

It hasn't even been a week since that incident, and here we go again. And tragically, sadly, this one was just so much more horrendous. I can't even begin to wrap my head around what those poor families must be going through. It absolutely breaks my heart. How anyone can justify keeping the existing laws in place without so much as a forum on it needs to have their heads and hearts examined, because it's clear they're deficient in one or both.

8. Except that it's not like that

You don't even need ID to vote here, yet you would need to be fingerprinted and get a background check to apply for a gun.

15. no such thing as strict gun control in america

ter: Buying a gun online in a city with strict gun-control is legal?

.. there's no such thing, excepting washington DC & chicago a few years back, as 'strict gun control', and that pertained only to handguns - longguns (rifles & shotguns) were legal in DC & chicago, in fact of DC's 550,000 residents, about 100,000 had legal longguns.

.. and it's not just cities, it's states; nowhere in america has 'strict gun control'. There is relatively 'stricter' gun control in Massachusetts, RI, Maryland, New York, Illinois, California, Hawaii, NewJersey, and yes Connecticut, but there is no such thing as 'strict gun control' in the USA. In fact, it's better written as 'less lax' gun conrol in those 9 states... (connecticut has some form of limited 'shall issue' concealed carry laws, where citizens generally can get a concealed carry license simply if they want one).

.. In every state in America you can legally buy a gun, as long as you are a legal beagle. This was true even prior to the 2008 & 2010 supreme court decisions (subversions of bill of rights, revistionist history authored by scalia, er scalitomas).
.. Nearly half the guns in the world are in America, can we realistically think writing congressmen will prevent these mass shootings in schools & malls? no they won't, there are too many guns in america, about 300 million of the 600 million guns in the world. The best we can hope for is a reduction in the occurrence by passing 1) assault rifle ban 2) closing gunshow loophole and enabling 3) one gun per months laws, as well as retaining background checks. This is it - all we can reasonably expect - no magic counterbullet, just a marginal reduction in violent crime & gundeath, by passing & supporting what to other countries would be a modicum of guncontrol.

and, Tell the NRA to go to hell with their mentality - MORE GUNS MORE LIES.

13. Buying a gun on line is the same as buying from a gun shop,

the gun is sent to a gun shop and the same paperwork has to be filled out and approved.

20. I've got a great idea:

Only allow gun sales on days when the polls are open. They'd have 365 day 24/7 voting in red states.

16. Something deeply wrong

This is NOT the time to stand down regarding gun control .... this is the very time we need to speak up!

Guns kill people ... they are an implement of destruction and murder in a technological society.

The gun nuts will jump in with their chants that guns don't kill people .... this could have been prevented if the teachers, the children, the janitors .... were armed to the teeth.

THIS IS THE TIME for (phrasing it kindly) gun enthusiasts to stand down ... THIS IS NOT THE TIME TO EXTOL THE WONDROUS QUALITIES OF FIRE ARMS.

Children have been slaughtered because of the proliferation of the fire arms you support .... you are complicit in this.

That's their priority. Just like all conservanazis: profit over anything else.

23. It's quite easy, actually...

I suspect you know that too. Here in my state, I can head on down to a gun show and just buy a gun. No questions asked - no background checks ... no waitin' ... no nuthin'.

Voting? Yeah - tell that to all the voters who had to wait eight hours in line just to cast a vote ... or had their vote thrown away.

26. 8 hours is nothing

In NYC, you wait 6 months for your permit, and it can be taken away for a speeding ticket. You're lucky to live in an area with freedom.

27. LOL - 8 hours ain't nothin...

Good to know. Here's a plan. Stand in the same place for eight straight hours and let's see how long you last. No breaks. No sitting. Go do it out in the cold, too, without much food ... and hopefully it's not snowing, or raining. No bathroom breaks, either, or you might lose your place in line.

Eight hours ain't nothing? Give me a fucking break.
