GOP called Rice a liar, so why don't we do the same to them?

But with actual evidence.

I mean, there are hundreds of documented lies from past Republican presidents, as well as past and current GOP legislators and officials. Even a layman like me can easily compile binders full of ... lies.

Let's start with one - the Iraq War.
We know that the Bush administration and dozens of Congressmen and staffers were involved in wide-ranging lies and cover ups. But more importantly, they lied to elected American Congressmen to drag the country into war, and caused the death of thousands of American soldiers. I think criminal charges is a very real possibility here.

As Senator Bill Nelson put it,

"I, along with nearly every Senator in this Chamber, in that secure room of this Capitol complex, was not only told there were weapons of mass destruction--specifically chemical and biological--but I was looked at straight in the face and told that Saddam Hussein had the means of delivering those biological and chemical weapons of mass destruction by unmanned drones, called UAVs, unmanned aerial vehicles.

Further, I was looked at straight in the face and told that UAVs could be launched from ships off the Atlantic coast to attack eastern seaboard cities of the United States.

Is it any wonder that I concluded there was an imminent peril to the United States?...

... We now know, after the fact and on the basis of Dr. Kay's testimony today in the Senate Armed Services Committee, that the information was false; and not only that there were not weapons of mass destruction -- chemical and biological--but there was no fleet of UAVs, unmanned aerial vehicles, nor was there any capability of putting UAVs on ships and transporting them to the Atlantic coast and launching them at U.S. cities on the eastern seaboard.

I am upset that the degree of specificity I was given a year and a half ago, prior to my vote, was not only inaccurate; it was patently false. I want some further explanations.
"

Why are Democrats letting these liars get off scot-free? Why do we have to watch them destroy the career of a bright, intelligent, patriot? Why are we not fighting back? These immoral paid servants of ALEC (also known in some circles as Republican Congressmen) should be taught a lesson.

2. Their Rice lied and misled with impunity

and what did she get afterwards? Why, she was nominated and confirmed as Secretary of State.

BTW Senator Nelson seriously didn't stop and question where this supposed fleet of UAVs were and/or how he imagined Saddam would get said fleet of UAVs anywhere near us without us being able to spot them and wipe them out? I'm not a Senator, nor some brilliant military tactician, nor any kind of expert on Iraq but I could've told Senator Nelson that that idea was ludicrous on its face to begin with.

6. Peer pressure and the atmosphere of fear

probably prevented a good number of Congressmen from speaking out. The meeting that Sen. Nelson referred to was attended by 72 Senators!

To make matters worse, even the SecState at the time, Colin Powell, was fed with false data. His Chief of State, Col (Ret) Lawrence Wilkinson, was very, very critical of Bush/Cheney/Rumsfield. He even accused them of lying in a court affidavit (on an unrelated matter concerning the false imprisonment of a Guantanamo detainee).

Why are we not pursuing all of these serious, documented lies?

8. Good question

My guess is that too many people, both Republicans and Democrats might be implicated and/or embarrassed that they bought all of that BS at the time and they're all protecting each other.

If any President in recent history deserved to be impeached, it was (P)resident George W. Bush

BTW love your username. One of my favorite bands!

9. You're probably right..

... on both counts.
And I will go one further - Bush Jr. and Reagan were criminals, and soiled the dignity of the Oval Office.

I love my username too, though in light of what happened today, perhaps we should be listening to something much more profound from them.

3. Calling them liars is like calling the sun

bright. It's just so obvious. But it needs to be said all the time, because all they DO is lie.
