If only 1/100 of the people who filled stadiums to hear him speak buy the book.

We won't recover any of the ground we lost this year in 2018 if we learn exactly nothing.

Make new mistakes.

Election I might believe it. But this isn't anything you all "learned from this election", it's basically a repetition of what you already thought a year ago. And since the premise of "learning" is bullshit, I can take it with a grain of salt.

will not gain us anything either, yes, the economy needs a focus, but you do not have to go ahead and ditch minorities to do it, and if you try, you just wind up being a light GOP, the sort that truman rightly said loses to real GOP.

the idea is sold that as long as the "white working class males get theirs, you can ignore everybody else." I do not think this is the message you intend to mean, but as a Hispanic, I can tell you it is the message that many of those beloved unions did operate under for many years.

http://www.nbcnews.com/news/latino/latino-workers-future-labor-n193111

Up until the Obama administration, even as their numbers dwindled, many labor unions did not want Hispanics. What's worse, is that we were treated like the enemy, we could not get into the union, yet were treated like scabs. To be fair, Richard Trumpka has made some very heroic efforts to fix this, ones the afl-cio really does deserve praise for:

http://www.aflcio.org/Blog/Other-News/11-Important-Facts-About-Latinos-in-the-U.S.-Workforce
http://america.aljazeera.com/opinions/2014/11/labor-unions-racialinjusticeracerelationsaflcioferguson.html

"In 2008 the president of the AFL-CIO, Richard Trumka, openly criticized union members who were hesitant to vote for then-candidate Barack Obama because of his race. Trumka has since made addressing racial injustice a priority for the country’s largest labor federation. It is not surprising, then, that he has now waded into the crisis in Ferguson, Missouri, pledging the AFL-CIO’s support to help address the ongoing turmoil sparked by the Aug. 9 shooting of African-American teen Michael Brown by white police officer Darren Wilson."

but Trumpka's work started in the Obama years, way too late. And of course, we know that the general backlash against immigration got embraced some Union members, whether here or the UK.

Now, I want labor back as a vital measure to protect all our wages. Hell, if Richard Trumpka ran in 2020, he would have by vote, Put him with someone like Liz Warren, who has spoken on economics in as clear and sharp terms as Bernie ever did, would. However, just as you would not the Debbie Schultz's to see you as a means to their end, we do not want you to see us as a means to your end. No we are not fighting so that bankers in Brooklyn can get the snazzy gentrified apartments, but no, that does not mean we want to go back to the days where as long as white men had jobs, everybody had to wait in the back of the bus.

Not only are both approaches immoral, but it also ensures the real enemies, the billionaires that buy off millionaires, get to bury all of us. ALL OF US.

speaking of which, I might as well ask this as a postscript. While you seem, to rail at what is called "identity politics" , if Liz Warren ran, would you have supported her?

20. who defined it as everybody except white men
Thu Nov 24, 2016, 05:48 PM
Nov 2016

When Barack Obama tried to build a high-speed rail in Florida, there were plenty of white men who were looking forward to the jobs it would make, before Give Rock Scott scuttled it because it would threaten a deal he made with his friends. There were plenty of white men that got insurance under the much reviled ACA that did not haver to worry about dying because they were too poor to get medicine. Last I checked, there as so sign that said: "white men need not apply." On the other hand, the blacks and browns in your job line have as hard a time getting a job, and frankly, a harder time as they are often "last hired, first fired."

We do need to make economic justice, but what makes it hard to deal with -->SOME<--, note I said -->some<-- "white working class" is that they act as if they deserve to be served first, and let everyone else fight over the remains. The good old days they want a return to are indeed the days when women and other knew their place. Now Bernie is not one of those; he knows the good old days were not that good, and Richard Trumpka seems to know that as again, he has done heroic things to make Unions for everyone. However, truth be told, the things that made it easy to treat minorities like crap were effectively turned against those "white men" you speak for, because when many of them became "Reagan Democrats", they enabled the GOP to pick them clean, just as the "Trump Democrats" will be the first to scream when their Medicare is taken.

Now, I am not saying that there does not need to be serious, major retooling of the message, nor will I deny that some in the Clinton camp used the veneer of social justice to gloss over economic justice. However, if you decide you want to add on to the chorus of "dem uppity social justice wimmin and minorities need ta shut up", then you will be challenged, especially as the Bernies and Trumpkas frankly are not falling for that. We want to walk forward together with you, we want to walk over the GOP that dopes want to walk over both opf us, but we will NOT walk behind you.

Do you personally know anyone who changed his or her mind about the election due to Comey's letter?

I'm stupefied. I thought he was supposed to be campaigning for Hillary all that time, as some continue to insist he did? And given the topic of this book, was he actually rooting for her to lose?

Remember that guy he aligned himself with when he trotted off to the Vatican for that "speech", Jeffrey Sachs? Well, Sachs is the author of the controversial "Shock Therapy" doctrine, which of course has proven to be completely ineffective at helping countries in economic trouble (see this blog for a quick summary: http://bilbo.economicoutlook.net/blog/?p=29888).

Did Bernie secretly (or not so secretly) want people who didn't vote for him to go through some 'shock therapy' of their own? And doesn't it seem highly unusual, at the very least, that he's got a book out about her supposedly awful campaign that was ready to go before the election was even over?
