President Obama and Congressional Dems Skyrocket in Rasmussen Daily Tracking Poll-58% approval!Last edited Tue Dec 11, 2012, 12:38 AM USA/ET - Edit history (1)
I know its Rasmussen but still this is extraordinarily awesome! FYI, the morning after the election, he adjusted all of his future polls to match the 2012 Presidential Exit Poll electorate breakdown.
Today’s figures include 33% who Strongly Approve of the way Obama is performing as president and 33% who Strongly Disapprove. This gives him a Presidential Approval Index rating of 0 (see trends). The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows that 58% of Likely Voters at least somewhat approve of President Obama's job performance. Forty-one percent (41%) at least somewhat disapprove (see trends). Generic Congressional Ballot: Democrats 46%, Republicans 36% Ladies and Gentlemen, behold the Golden Age of the Democratic Party in the United States of America. We have the much beloved first African American President and only Democratic President since FDR to obtain 51% of the vote twice sitting in the Oval at this very moment, we have a substantial 55-45 senate majority, we have the stunningly successful, intelligent, admired and beloved Secretary of State and wife of the 1st Democratic President since FDR to be re-elected practically guaranteed the White House in 2016 if she wants it, and we have a lock on the fastest growing demographics in the electorate. Remember that book by James Carville (?) in 2000 entitled "The Emerging Democratic Majority." Well, we're there!

1. And they'll use that leverage to pass really, really important austerity measures

2. I am not so sure

He doesn't seem willing to just cave in and give Chief Hostage Taker Boehner what he wants in the fiscal cliff showdown.

4. Both parties are offering austerity measures

Democrats less so than Republicans, but the Democrats are still asking for substantial cuts.

7. why don't we wait and see what is really on the table? I've always found that a "wait and see"
|
view is best. I don't make bets about stuff like this, but particularly now. I am sensing a big tide of revulsion against the Republican Party in this country as people contemplate the destruction of SS and Medicare and are getting really mad.

13. Can you clarify
|
Last edited Tue Dec 11, 2012, 07:51 AM USA/ET - Edit history (1) whom on the Democratic side is asking for substanial spending cuts and what they are? Just give names instead of just Generalities? For example, I live in a predominately Blue District, and my representative isn't asking for any such thing you claim. I don't know where this idea comes from, that Democrats in Congress act on their own and don't have any constituents, just like those representing these red districts? That is unless people think that constituents in Blue Districts are just sheep. The same can happen to Democrats as can Republicans. You must think these Democratic representatives are stupid and will commit suicide because the republicans and media pundits want them to? So give specific Democrats you are referring to?

9. If they implement austerity and cut Medicare and SocSec, this will last until exactly 2014
|
The Repukes will, as they did so successfully in 2010, pose as defenders of Medicare and Dems will get creamed in both houses.

Rasmussen numbers mean you can add a few points for the Dems IRL. Very cool. The book was by John Judas and Rex Texiera, but otherwise I agree with everying you've said.

11. rasmussen still stinky

.. you know if rasmussen is involved there's a background rightwing strategy involved. On this approval rating, it's 'stop the bleeding' - rasmussen is trying to blunt criticism from it's 2012 polling where it finished near the bottom feeders of polldom. Have you forgotten so soon rasmussens' approval ratings for obama a couple years back when for over an entire year not one approval was in positive territory? even after bin laden was killed & poll avgs had +10 obama, rass had it tied, the lowest of the low. .. Q: are you now more inclined to give rass credibility? duh, yeah most would be, seeing 58% approval, highest for several years now. Not that it isn't true, but for rasmussen polling that would be padding obama 10 pts from it's usual standards. Suddenly he adopts current electorate percents, I doubt it will sustain thru 2014, or at least be cleverly manipulated. What do they care now? their end game failed, they couldn't sway many for effective republican gains, no meaningful elections polls for another 15 months, may as well go for the 'restore our credibility' motive. (Not to be confused with mitt romney's 'restore our futility' campaign theme). Rasmussen was the worst pollster in 2000 election, picking gwbush to beat algore by 9 (nine) pts, worst of the major polls, and conscientious commentators noted rass padded avg ~5pts to the right in most all the 2000 senate & some congressional races. After 2000 results redounded badly for poor rass, he promised everyone that he would work harder to make his polls better & more reflective of electorate - so similar to what he's promising in your current link to 'adjust to the 2012 electorate'. Rass was accurate in 2004 - when your candidate is actually ahead you need not pad that much, so they sorta backed into accuracy, in spite of themselves - bet they were as surprised as anyone. .. flash, scott rasmussen wanted romney to win, very badly he wanted romney to win, scott rasmussen is a rightwing spin machine, currently on rinse cycle. Beware, rasmussen will spin agayne. PS: only reason rass is included in real clear politics (RCP) is that RCP is majority controlled by forbes at 51%, forbes a rightwinger himself, so he & rass go hand in hand up the rightwing stairway to heaven (or down). The other notabl poll of polls 'Polling Report' does not include rasmussen, ostensibly since rass invariably is several points to the right of the polling averages. |

12. Rass still stinky, addendum
|
Here's RCP (real clear politics aka real queer politics), here's RCP's approval ratings from past month since election --- rasmussen trying SO HARD, post election fumbling, to win hearts & minds of, um, it's newfound electorate:
Gallup 12/7 - 12/9 1500 A 51 43 ................... +8 Rasmussen Reports 12/7 - 12/9 1500 LV 58 41....... +17 Politico/GWU/Battlegrd 12/2 - 12/6 1000 LV 50 47... +3 Associated Press/GfK 11/29 - 12/3 1002 A 57 41.... +16 Quinnipiac 11/28 - 12/3 1949 RV 53 40 .............+13 National Journal 11/25 - 12/1 1000 A 54 42........ +12 CNN/Opinion Research 11/16 - 11/18 RV 52 45........ +7 On an ordinary day in campaign season mode, rass would have this thing a big fat zero. But hey, now they can crow 'padding? we? pollrigging? us? we had obama at the highest approval rating of all the pollsters, you can't possibly call us biased!" |

You just watch.
As the Fiscal Speed Bump talks heat up those numbers will change drastically. |
