I didn't realize how important Hillary's candidacy was to me

until the results came in. I supported her in the primary and even went down to Iowa to get out the caucus. I continued to volunteer for the campaign through election day. I really wanted her to win because I believed her the best qualified candidate. The personal nature of it, however, only became clear to me in the days following Trump's victory. I've been completely gutted. To me, it speaks to the insurmountable barrier women face, that no matter how accomplished one becomes, she can be defeated by a man with zero qualifications. This defeat is deeply personal to me.

No candidate, or human being, is perfect, but Hillary will remain for me a powerful symbol of women's struggle for equality.

I (wrongly) supported Edwards at first, but he didn't last long and my loyalties seemed to naturally shift to Hillary. At that point, it became clear to me I always should have supported her, that my admiration for her went back decades, and in fact, I couldn't even remember why I'd have picked Edwards over her in the first place. Very enlightening.

for an election before.

This one, I've left 3 cousins, and their spouses, and 2 very long time friends.

If feels like a part of my own soul/spirit/id died on election night this year. Never before in my life have I've been so drivin to desire harm to other people I'd been so ticked off.

My sister's kids stayed home from school and we were all so upset. Election night for me is all numbers but the day after is the aftermath. If it were Kasich I would be upset but would expect him to make predictable GOP choices with some motions to Dems but Trump is just nuts. Trump is on his third shake up in his transition team. That says all you need to know about him.

And the salt in the wound is the popular vote. She will be 2 million votes ahead of him and a relic will make him president.

She had her faults and I always admitted that but I really liked Hillary. I always thought she would be a better president than candidate.

My heart is broken!

Trump winning, I had to stop myself from posting really nasty replies. I chose just to stay silent, but I will never forget that they voted for him. If he ends up appointing activist judges to the supreme court who end up nullifying my marriage, I will remind them who they voted for and that they are responsible for my loss of marriage rights.

I just can't get past that they voted for such a bigot. To me their vote was a vote against their gay sister. I will never forgive them for that.

If some motherfucker tried to nullify (even indirectly) my marriage to my wife they would go onto the enemy for life, never fucking talk to list.

I marvel at the strength of so many on here to lived around a multiplicity of ignorant, violent, bible thumping racist cretins. I would go BONKERS if I was plucked out of London and tossed into some 2 bit rural redneck shithole, USA. (NOT saying thats where you live, btw)

getting all the finances consolidated and set up in a trust for my Mom and I need to talk to my sisters regularly to keep them informed. Maybe when my Mom dies and we each receive our inheritance, then I can let them go for good. Or maybe by then they will see the error of their evil ways! I live in Los Angeles, by the way. Some days it is a shithole here, but overall I'm very happy living here!

Lived there as a baby (La Jolla tbe) then grew up in London, where I mostly live now. My mums gran lives in Holmby Hills, up in LA. SoCal is the only part of the US I would ever consider living in (looove La Jolla) but it really is not something we wish to do. I am a London girl by nature and habit, and the other main places I have lived (Hong Kong, Stockholm, and Melbourne) would come before a return to my birthplace. I do do a lot of business with American firms, and I still care deeply about the country.

I've been all over this board tonight telling people she WON by a million votes and counting. All those long-faced post-mortems blaming Hillary for losing the White House for the Democrats. Bull. She WON the actual votes by the actual people. Neither she nor we have anything to be ashamd of.

As for bawling your eyes out -- didn't we all. I hope you've seen Kate McKinnon's SNL open, singing Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah." If you have not yet, it's posted in the HRC room and in the Video forum.

Glad to be back here, quarrels and all.

A working woman, who chose not to be an ornament in the White House.

This loss gutted me. The cost to so many, because they had to vote for the reality tv person instead of the one who was qualified, is going to be horrendous.

I've blocked a few cousins already, and several others that I've know for years, on FB. I will not stand for their hate memes being posted where I'm subjected to them.

The party may go on, but for her, this is it...and it hurts me. It hurts me that she is being so maligned and mocked, when she has givesn SO much.

"I'd love to see a woman president, just not this woman". Really? Well, don't
hold your breath, because I don't see it happening anytime soon. I mean, Hilary was flawed. Just like every male president we've had. It looks like for a woman to become president she needs to be totally and completely pure, pristine, perfect...GMAB!!!

I mean in almost 250 years, no woman has been worthy of being president?
