Richard Levin----our next Secretary of the Treasury
Levin has served as Yale University President for longer than any one at other Ivy League Schools. He is brilliant in finance and has a lot of Corporate CEO's as friends. The next four years will show Obama with a team that will prove his enlightenment. Wait until you see who else is getting appointed.

2. Levin is a credible choice. Do you have concrete info that he's Obama's choice?
|
I'm not doubting it, just curious if it's solid info.
Four years ago, I broke Biden's selection as VP on DU and got roundly trashed for not being able to reveal the source of my info (until, that is, it was officially announced). The reason was that my nephew in DC went swimming early mornings in a pool where some of Biden's staffers also went for early morning swims, and he was small (at the time) and has strongly Asian features. They probably figured he either didn't understand English well, or was too young to understand what they were gabbing about. He let me know immediately, but asked me not to tell where I got my info, so as not to get Biden's people in trouble (after all, I can understand their excitement). Ergo, if you DO know but can't say how or why, I'm cool with that. |

3. Do IRC that Rick Levin was on the short list a while back for some cabinet position?
|
I'm trying to recall what it was...
I guess this could make some sense. His retirement was at an interesting time and Peter Salovey was just waiting in the wings so it was a smooth deal and done quickly. |

|
Rick Levin-- can go into any arena and be accepted ----he brought ROTC back to Yale-(not that I am in favor of that---but it's hard for the wingers to attack him because of this)---has hosted George Bush at his personal residence----but can go anywhere on the globe and have immediate rapport----this guy is good------there will be more choices like this one ----stay tuned

lecture and he is in fine command. I am sure this is a career move on his part.
What was your college at Yale? |

13. Did I say I was at Yale?
|
Just know the inner workings -----and human nature ----the rest falls into place---Levin was set to take Larry Summers job ---but the thought was that Treasury would be more fitting----and an appointment of Levin after Obama won left no room for failure on Rick's resume

14. I was guessing that you might be...no offense...I just know a lot of Yalies.
|
But I don't have the info you have, altho I do not doubt your word on this. It makes sense, if he was a contender for Summers' job he had to be up in the ranking. Chances are you are right!

16. Oh, don't get me started so early in the morning!
|
My ex-husband is a Harvard man and he started taunting me at Thanksgiving dinners when the family gathers at my daughter's house. Since the Yale-Harvard game is the week before it has been a source of delight for him to pull all kinds of stuff on me (neither I nor my husband went to Yale but we live in New Haven and attend Yale games at the Bowl every season).
I am plotting revenge. I will be playing this little youtube number for my l7 year old granddaughter who is looking at colleges: https:// over the xmas holidays... |

there are many floating around ----including one with Howard Dean and Salovey------hanging around a dorm room eating bad snacks -----it is good that they keep it light-------I am glad for all of the Ivy grads ----but it can also be an albatross-----the pressure to succeed at any cost can sometimes ruin the fun of life--we all have our crosses to bear----but I am just gratefully to be alive and help in some way-----kind regards to you and best of luck to your family and to your granddaughter ----in her college hunt

19. Thanks. What's the title of the howard dean/peter salovey video? I'd like to find it on youtube
|
i fpossible. It sounds like fun. I know Harvard (in its typically unhumorous style) did a parody of Why I Chose Yale. But of course the Cantabs are generally more unhappy than the Elis....
