Jan Brewer’s Immigration Backlash BeginsDec 2, 2012 4:45 AM EST As election-chastened Republicans rush to embrace Latinos, Arizona's infamously anti-immigrant governor finds herself on the wrong side of the fence. By Terry Greene Sterling Arizona’s Republican governor, Jan Brewer, seemed in perfect lockstep with both her party and Mitt Romney (whom she had heartily endorsed early on) when she issued Executive Order 2012-06 three months ago. The order barred “Dreamers”—young, undocumented immigrants granted temporary relief from deportation by a new Obama administration directive—from receiving Arizona driver licenses. At the time, Brewer called Dreamers “illegal people.” Earlier this week, those same “illegal people” slapped Brewer with a federal lawsuit. Their lawyers at the American Civil Liberties Union, the National Immigration Law Center, and the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund contend (PDF) that Governor Jan violated the constitutional rights of certain young, non-criminal immigrants granted work permits and Social Security cards, as well as a two-year temporary reprieve from deportation, by the Obama administration’s Department of Homeland Security. Brewer’s actions, and the lawsuit, promise to cast Arizona as an extremist state once again. What’s more, the precedent-setting class-action case will likely drag on for years and be a costly affair, since tens of thousands of Dreamers are thought to live in Arizona. Only two other states—Michigan and Nebraska—have banned qualified Dreamers from driving, and those states are not being sued, advocates say, because they may reconsider their policies. What’s remarkable about the reaction to the lawsuit in Arizona, and across the nation, is that immigration hardliners aren’t lining up to support Team Brewer. Support for Dreamers, in the meantime, continues to build. Nevada recently announced it would give Dreamers their driver licenses, and California changed its law to make sure its Dreamers could drive. full article: http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/12/02/jan-brewer-s-immigration-backlash-begins.html

of anti-immigration and anti-Obama along with the TeaBaggers.
http://www.azcentral.com/news/election/azelections/articles/2010/11/03/20101103jan-brewer-wins-arizona-governor-race.html It's as if most Arizonians are proud of their racism - to paraphrase President Obama. |

13. No Brewer does NOT need to be recalled...
|
Give her the spotlight always, she's guaranteed to give Democrats the majorities in both houses of the US congress in 2014 and the Presidency in 2016. Democrats could ask for nothing more than Jan Brewer, she's priceless, make her wear a microphone full time.

5. Sad to say but

This <insert *descriptor here> will probably get reelected. I mean look at who this state just picked: Jeff Fake? Joke Arpaio? Trent Franks?
I don't know what's wrong with people here. Taking a look at the AZ Republic Letters to the Editor Page is like a trip inside the bubble. I have seen a barrage of recent letters blaming those "damned unions" for Hostess. WTF is wrong with us? All we have to do is work 168 hours a week for ten cents an hour and everything will be fine! Of course President Obama is going to get everyone's guns after he takes the nation into socialism on the eve of stealing his third term while making everyone memorize the Koran and forcing all women to wear burkas as he single handedly issues an Executive Order banning Christmas and forcing everyone into universal single payer health care (actually just had a wing nut fretting about that last point!). *I've read the DU TOS and I DO NOT see any prohibition against my comment above so for the bedwetting PC crowd they might want to skip this part. *descriptor choices: 1. Shrew 2. Hag 3. Ogre 4. Cold Hearted Beyatch 5. nutcase Once again I want to apologize to the civilized world for this state inflicting itself in such a manner. It's not bad enough that we've given you the pompous charade of John McAnus, who despite Randi Rhodes' curious defense is no war hero or possessive of any honorable military service record, but we also have infected the country with whole cornucopia of quadrupedal troglodytic mouthbreathers. |

...is that driver's licenses don't allow Dreamers to drive. They allow them to drive legally. Which means they can be insured. Which makes everyone's life on the road better.
