Obama Press Secretary Grilled On Why Obama Is Campaigning Instead Of Negotiating On The Fiscal Cliff

Carney says Obama can multi-task negotiate with congressional leaders and reach out to the public. Reporters ask if they're just killing time.

I love that Obama's "bringing it to the people". I think it'll make the GOP look like even bigger jackasses, if that's possible.

2. He shouldn't negotiate. He should listen to the people. Republicans are WRONG. &

Negotiating with them is their own bullcrap; they do not want solutions, only more and more and more power to do what they and they alone want.

5. My guess is the congressional republicans want secret negotiations

the less the public knows, the better, in their minds.

7. Did the reporters grill Reagan's Press Secretary...

...when Reagan went "over Congress's head to the people"?

What Reagan did then is precisely what Obama is doing now. At least polls show that the public is already siding with Obama on many critical issues -- such as raising taxes on the rich and preserving Medicare -- so at least this time there'll be some substance to it, rather than just theatrics.

11. No they didn't

because they agreed with Reagan's Policies. Why are they given a pass because Republicans claim they are Liberal? They started this during Reagan's Presidency and the Press backed off. They also blamed the Press for the loss of the Vietnam War. Don't forget, they are part of the top percent too. I imagine their taxes will be going up.

8. It's Congress's Idea

Congress designed the whole fiscal cliff anyway last year when they tried to leverage entitlement cuts over the debt ceiling. So let them deal with it now.

The President told them what he would sign, and what he wouldn't.

Let's see Boehner and Reid get him a bill to sign before Christmas.
