Poll: Public would blame GOP for budget impasse, wants tax increases

A strong CNN/OCR poll for the President and Democrats in Congress on the “fiscal cliff,” in terms of what the public wants out of the talks, and who they’d blame if the talks go south.

In a nutshell, the public wants tax increases as part of the bargain, by an overwhelming majority, and they would blame the Republicans more than the President should a deal not be struck.

But They do not want cuts to Social Security or Medicare.

1. They screamed to the high heavens when Illinois raised taxes in 2011. Then forgot.

A few weeks back I brought it up. The universal response was, "I forgot all about that. Do you know when that tax increase takes place?"

Almost two years after the taxes increased from 3% to 5% ... and the people screaming about the end of the world didn't realize they were already paying the increase.

Tax cuts are not nearly as popular as the pols have convinced themselves.
