Reid faces task of mending fences with Republicans after campaign attacks
Reid faces task of mending fences with Republicans after campaign attacks
By Alexander Bolton - 11/24/12 06:00 AM ET Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) infuriated Republicans during the campaign with his harsh partisan attacks and now faces the delicate task of mending his relationship with the GOP. Some Republicans say Reid poisoned his relationship with their party by waging controversial attacks against GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney. They were most angered by Reid’s charge that Romney had not paid taxes in ten years, attributing the information to an anonymous source. "I do think he lost more credibility with Republicans because of his aggressive comments during the campaign,” said Ron Bonjean, a Republican strategist and former leadership aide who served in the Senate and House. “The make-up of the Senate is almost the same and I think Sen. Reid is likely to produce the same type of gridlock he did before because of his unusually partisan stance," Bonjean added. more: http://thehill.com/homenews/senate/269123-reid-faces-task-of-mending-fences-with-gop-after-campaign-attacks

2. Why should Reid kiss their asses?

55 is more than 45 and if he can get 51 to agree to weaken the filibuster, then it is a new ballgame.
Besides Republicans still want to punish America. Screw 'em, Harry. |

6. Actually the Republicans are now WEAKER in the Senate.
|
They expected to pick-up seats and get the majority, but they LOST a couple of seats! They must be dreaming if they think Reid owes them.

Last edited Sun Nov 25, 2012, 03:17 PM USA/ET - Edit history (1) the president should compromise and instill our Policies. Reid should apologize for taking off the gloves. Susan Rice should apologize because they didn't like the talking points given to her. You see the trend? You cannot rationlize with snakes. The Republican Party needs to be purged of these crazy people. This is the same Party that believe rape is not rape and science is black magic. The same crowd that have people wanting to secede. Do not seperate the leaders from the people that sent them there. You would do better rationalizing with them if any rational people are left in those states. Go off the cliff and get these people out of Congress for the better of the country. It looks like the problem was not only George Bush, but his party for the last years. They will not change their ideas on anything.

8. Reid poisoned the relationship?
|
Are they fucking kidding? Anything Reid did pales in comparison to the four year of their obstructing every damn thing this President has tried to do. And, it pales in comparison to the unprecedented disrespect they have shown him. This is nothing more than another signal that they will not cooperate, unless they get their way. Fuck 'em.

11. or President Obama for that matter
|
The first words out of the mouths of several pundits on ELECTION NIGHT were that President Obama would need to have go back and try working with the Republicans again. Not much was said then- or the days that have followed since- about Republicans having taken a thumping and should now have to work harder with President Obama and the Democrats in Congress.

What has he said that's more aggressive than what the Republicans have said about Obama for the past four years? Anyone telling them to "mend fences"?
