McCain and the Two Rices

McCain and the Two Rices
by Michael Tomasky Nov 15, 2012 11:01 AM EST

What is going on with John McCain? Maybe he just despises Barack Obama so completely that he almost can't help himself. That's one option. Another is that he has decided for whatever reason to finish his Senate career as a full-out tea partier. A third is that he's just a nasty man, which is pretty widely known to be true in Washington.

Hard to say. But this jihad of his against Susan Rice really is about the nastiest thing we've ever seen him do. Rice had nothing to do with security at the Benghazi consulate. Nothing. That just isn't her portfolio. The only thing she had to do with Libya, in any substantive way, is that she worked like a dog to assemble the coalition that toppled Muammar Ghaddafi, and she did an outstanding job at that. Indeed, as Eleanor Clift reported for the Beast back in January, Rice did travel once to Benghazi and was given a hero's welcome there.

All Rice had to do with the Sept. 11 Benghazi attack was that she happened to be the one who was sent out on television that fateful Sunday in September to state the talking points. As the Wall Street Journal has reported, and as I've passed along to you previously, she said what she was told that morning to say, and intelligence was being revised toward a conclusion that the attack was a terrorist act at the very moment that she was on the air.

McCain knows all this. He just wants a scalp, he and Lindsey Graham, over the whole Benghazi thing. And he wants to show he's relevant. The two of them are trying to make do with Kelly Ayotte now in the old Joe Lieberman role, but they've lost their bipartisan cover, which takes their whining and wailing down one notch on the legitmacy big board, and even the new independent coming into the Senate, Angus King, said yesterday that he thought McCain was out of line in attack Rice.

2. McCain is a super-loser & traitor. Do your research. The 500 fellow POW's in the Hanoi Hotel

will totally agree. He's nothing.

14. Woah! Whoa! Whoa!...you runaway horses!

Hold on... Whew, this place is crazy today. I didn't mean ANYTHING derogatory about Susan Rice when I made that comment. Jeesch! Did you guys think I was equating them to one another in a (God forbid) racist way????? I was just stating a fact. It's just ironic that Susan and Condy are 1st cousins, as they are so different. And if you want t know where I learned this fact, it was straight from Condy's mouth during an interview on TV.

17. I swear on a stack of Bibles that I heard her say that!

It was like a a short bio piece of some sort, can't remember who was interviewing her... a woman I think. They showed her playing the piano, yadda, yadda, yadda.... I think the reason I don't remember allot about the clip is that I can't stand Condy. And the one thing that stuck out and did stick to me was the fact that she said Susan Rice was her cousin. I was astounded that two women from the same family could be so different. Dayam. I wish I could find that clip. Will try to find it on Youtube. Ha! Yeah, we all know she lies. Thanks for replying back to me. I'm sorry I took your post the wrong way.

23. OK...so I went and looked around on Youtube...

God, it's so hard to sit and listen to her go on about herself just to see if the part I am describing is in there. The one I did manage to sit through was the Caty Couric (sp?)/NBC. Does NBC carry archives that go back in time, searchable? I'm going to give up on this for now and concede they aren't related. I just can't stomach listening to her.... Peace.

9. Thanks for the link, Dubster

John McCain and his partners at Fox News have made false allegations from the very start of this American tragedy. They are more interested in attacking President Obama than they are of reporting the facts of what happened that night. They have falsely claimed that extra security was denied from the Obama administration and then they lied about the Presidentís statements, claiming he didnít call it a terrorist attack

Poor puny minded, John McCain.. He insists on being an ugly caricature of a demented bitter old man. And, the corporatemedia is assisting him. Or did he get any pushback from Bob Schieffer on FTN this morning on his usual round of the Sunday Gasbaggers?
