I'll Never Understand Why Some States Remain Red.

I was browsing the internet for T-day recipes and came across this blog.
Granted this was 2011, but the comments reflect the recovery so many
communities started to see last year. These are from Central Tennessee.

The year 2011 is almost behind us, and if you sit back and look closely, we really do have a lot to be thankful for in Middle Tennessee.

Businesses are relocating here. Manufacturing plants and distribution centers are announcing expansion plans too! Announcements of good news for Middle Tennessee continue to overshadow the national news.

Interest Rates are lower than they have ever been. Oil prices have stabilized for the most part, and inflation is still not rampant. There is an abundance of home mortgage funds for creditworthy buyers. Pretty good ingredients for a recovery? They certainly should be!

Obama's policies are working for Central Tennessee, yet they voted for Willard who would have wiped out all the
progress they are experiencing. Once again you can't fix stupid.

1. Recipe looks good, thanks!

That's a very simple treatment of sweet potatoes that I wouldn't have thought of - will come in handy next week.

Ahh, red states. The vast uninformed republican voting base. Why don't the pundits ever point out that the poor, lower middle class, low education, welfare and food stamp receiving members of the 47% are more likely to be republicans than Democrats? Red state politics is not the realm of exclusively successful entrepreneurs and executives, it includes this sea of stupid you refer to.

Almost every person I have met who was receiving welfare or food stamps voted republican and gave as their motivation for doing so; gay rights, abortion or christianity. The republican dog whistles work exceedingly well in red states.

2. then they are content living in poverty and at the mercy of the

1%, RW media and local grifters and politicians. RW media is worst culprit in what is political
self mutilation.

Having a southern Thanksgiving this year. This recipe will fit right in.
Have a good one.

4. Because most people who live in red states are ignorant, bigoted assholes...

And before people attack me, I live in a red state ... I see it first hand. The people in red states are some of the dumbest, most uneducated voters you'll ever come across. I see it with my dad's family, people I don't associate with, who grew up poor but would never vote for a Democrat because they're socialist secularists.

Some of the dumbest people I have ever met live in red states. They are simply morons. They believe Obama is a Muslim. They believe he was born in Kenya. They believe he's a socialist. They don't have a pot to piss in, but they'll still vote Republican because, well, who the fuck knows? These are people who can barely wipe their ass, let alone string together a sentence. They're idiots. They live in a fantasy land where they make shit up. The founding fathers were all Christian pastors ... this country has always been a nation of God and only God and Democrats are always against God.

The only thing worse than a dumb person is a dumb person in a red state because I think it only amplifies their stupidity.

5. Do you think the absence of fanatic RW media

like fox and rush would change their mentality? Kenyan, Socialist, birther bullshit is all
RW media talking points.

Everyone has a computer and can get on and spew their ignorance and hatred, but the caliber
of person you describe, I wonder if they even vote. I doubt they could tell you the name of the
Vice President.

8. I think it would help...

The Democratic hate really started with the expansion of talk radio and the likes of Rush Limbaugh. That continued with FOX - but I also think the availability of the internet has made it worse. Because we're so connected, it's easier to spread BS than it was 20 years ago. Think back to the firestorm we saw from Ron Paul's racist newsletters from the early 90s. Back then, back when they were written, how many actually even knew they existed? But today, everything is so widespread, social media makes it easier to spread the lies and hate and push an agenda.

Just look at Facebook. I see it all the time from my dad's red neck clan who've decided they hate Obama (and they hated Clinton too, but it wasn't nearly at this level). It's a big reason my father stopped associating with his side of the family because they were all right-wing nut jobs. Today? I have his sister on my FB and all she does is post anti-Obama bullshit that has been debunked. This shit wouldn't have hit the main stream a decade ago. But now it is. That's the scary part. As the internet grows, so does the hate because it's easier to connect and spread.

6. I live in a red state.

I honestly believe racism is a factor. The Nixon southern strategy was based on gaining support for angry racists in the south who left the Dem party because of the voting rights act. They also view the Democratic party as the northern yankee party, this may be latent anger from losing the Civil War. The south did not like change back then and they don't now so conservatism is right down their alley. The sad thing is that they are following a mixtue of religous zealotry and bigotry and not true conservatism. The people around work in factory labor jobs but support candidates that would destroy their livelyhoods.
