Can we stop with the "GOP needs to reform" please?

No they don't! Let them keep up this way forever and continue to expose themselves. This is coming from someone who never followed politics until 2003 when I was 28 years old. It hit me when we went to war in Iraq under false pretenses that I should probably start paying attention to what is going on with our wild and crazy government. Since that time I have noticed that the GOP does nothing and has done done nothing but obfuscate, employ bully tactics, enforce fear inducing narratives to an uniformed mass audience, lie, divide, cover up, race bait, and oppress. I'm not saying that as a partisan although it may sound like it. Truthfully, I'm fascinated by the fact that a political party can be so devious and not only get away with it, but pretty much go unchallenged thanks to a more often than not complicit media.

I've never seen anything like it in my life. It's pretty amazing. I don't want them to decide they need to reform NOW. They're only saying this because they lost. If they had won the election they would have enacted all of their outlandish proposals or at least tried to. There never would have been this moment and they would believe the crazy s**t they do is not only acceptable, it's law. They've only scratched the outermost surface of what needs to be changed about them.

No. Let them continue to be the farthest fringe of the worst of what human kind has to offer. Eventually they will cease to be a political party and a new one will emerge, hopefully to the left of what is now considered liberal. The people that are really paying attention know this and those numbers seem to be growing. What we need is the country to continue on a peaceful progressive path. It should be so obvious if you're awake.

1. Let Them Become the "Party of Lincoln" Once Again

Let the GOP return to its roots and become the "Party of Lincoln" again.

4. Don't worry.

They won't change anything. They are based on fear and hate, just like most "christian" churches who will say anything to get money.

Someone more erudite than me said it earlier: Religion is poison.

That's really true.

5. JMO, but I think...

You'd have fewer DINO's and more actual progressives and liberal policies if the GOP weren't completely disfunctional/bat shit crazy. It's fun watching them implode, but I tend to think we need two (or more, preferably) working parties. The current situation may be better for the Democratic party, not sure it's that great for America or for Progressive/Liberal causes. Got my fire retardant undies on, so feel free to flame away

6. This very short sighted

that party controls half of this country's legislature and thanks to gerrymandering is likely to do so for the foreseeable future. This country does not need a political party so divorced from reality and ideologically rigid, that it's willing to drive the country off a cliff. The GOP moderating it's policy positions is unquestionably a good thing as it allows the Democrats to move to the left.

9. What would happen if they continue to go further out

is that they would become extinct, a lot of the members would temporarily become Democrats, and then the Democratic party would wind up breaking in two, and we'd be back to where we started, only one of the parties would have a different name.

10. The whole fucking political machine needs to move way the fuck to the left.

(Oh, sorry, that was my out-loud voice wasn't it.)

However it happens, that's what we're fighting for.

11. I for one, am pretty sick of their bullshit.

They can move to the left and we can move back to the left too. It would do the world some good.

14. I think any genuine desire of the GOP leaders to reform is irrelevant

It's their base that decides the winner of their primaries, and we can pretty much guarantee that those rabid bigots are not about to nominate a moderate. They have refined cutting off one's nose to spite one's face into a science - ironic, that, since they don't believe in science.

15. GOPers disgust me!

The agenda that they have Forcefully endorsed over the last four years has been a war on women!
They are the party of hate, division, illusion, lies and they think that their shit don't smell. They have cornered the market for crazies!
I sure don't want them to change. I say keep it up! We sure as hell do not want these Lunatics in charge!

16. Reform? they are lying as usual. Buyer or voter beware!!!

Remember they duped the voters in the 2010 election? And how many jobs did they create after that? NONE. We have to keep on them and call them out. Hey in Ohio the R state assembly is planning on defunding planned parenthood and adopting a personhood amendment. That is not reform.
