Can we cease and desist on the Secession/Separation threads?

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by Rhiannon12866 (a host of the 2016 Postmortem forum).

Ha Ha Ha. Look at the stupid Teabaggers who think they can secede.

OK. Since nobody is seceding from nobody, how's about we let this non-issue just die a quiet death? Yes, these people are morons, but we're stuck with them.

There's nothing really new to be said here, as is evidenced by the fact that the story you linked to is nearly two weeks old.

Not unless they're actually attempting to overthrow the government. Signing a petition isn't a crime.

Again, this is pretty much my point about these thread. People get hot and bothered over nothing. Even Rick Perry thinks the idea is stupid, and if Rick Perry says something is stupid, then by god he's a fellow who should know.

5. Jefferson and Madison proposed nullification if federal government usurped the rights and powers

retained by We the People and their individual states.

Nullification was a safety valve to avoid secession.

Currently several states have passed laws nullifying federal laws, e.g. Colorado and Washington nullifying federal marijuana laws.

IMO Jefferson and Madison would have championed nullification before secession.

6. I think they should charge each signer a $10.00 surcharge for processing. Here's my point.

I'm guessing that most of the signers wouldn't have signed had they known it would cost them $10.00. That's because the petition and the signing was a frivolous act. $10.00 is real.

Signing an on-line petition is pretty much the political equivalent of farting in an elevator.

And people have the right to think profoundly stupid thoughts and sign profoundly stupid pieces of paper without being fined.

They're idiots. Let them jabber.

12. It's not a fine. It's a surcharge for the cost of processing the petition. And, let the IRS

add the $10.00 to their tax form in April.

And, it that's not possible, then forget it.

My point really was that I doubt that many people who signed it would have been willing to pay $10.00 for the signature.

You can not use logic or reason with these idiots.

Mocking them is the only remaining course.
