2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumPlease don't hate me. I just can't watch the debate.
You'll find me sticking needles in my eyes to get out of listening to that voice. I will only tune in to DU and watch the threads from here.

(36,926 posts)I'm expecting a slam dunk by Hillary, so I will definitely be watching!

(67,101 posts)happening. I think Hillary will nail him too! He's an easy target and such an illiterate blunderbust. It's scary that so many Americans like this ass. Just more of my many WTF's. He likely considers all of his supporter losers, and he's just using them as fodder for votes. What a bunch of clueless guppies. Lemmings over the cliff.

(53,339 posts)This is historic, the first woman candidate for President in a head-to-head debate with her opponent for the first time. Watching the highlight clips later just won't be the same as seeing this event in real time.
I don't understand Dems who declare that they'll watch sports or cartoons instead. Trump will bring Boris and Natasha to the debate and will find himself doing gymnastics to try to counter his opponent.

(67,101 posts)a question. The general result for me is, I'm glad they're not asking me any questions.

(35,321 posts)hear Trump. He has Roger Ailes helping him, the guy is a political genius who knows
what kind of one liner he will feed Trump. If Trump comes up with some good one liner that
is all the media will talk about. I think the winner is whoever the media decides to back.

(27,434 posts)It's not like I'm undecided.
I have better things to do than watch the media carry Trump over the bar that is laying on the floor.

(36,437 posts)They're dumb outdated rituals that have almost no bearing on the election. They exist mostly as entertainment for political junkies. They're just shitty entertainment in my view.

(2,097 posts)Can't do it. I can't stand the ludicrous kabuki of the debates to begin with, and this time around I expect they'll be even more enraging. I'll read a transcript the next day.

(413 posts)The first Debate and the last debate are the important ones to win as the first sets the tone and the last is what people remember. Hillary is going to hammer him tonight and I'll be feeling much better in the morning.

(10,868 posts)In the primaries, I was like a whirling dervish switching around to all the different networks to see what the "political experts - ha! Lol" thought had just happened.
I just had to know who thought what.
But, tonight, I don't think I can take that kind of pain.
I can't look at Kelly Anne's droopy eyes and listen to her fake southern homespun accent filled with lies voice.
I'm too old and my blood pressure is already too high.
I may log in here, though, to see what my fellow liberal commie comrades thought.

(26,256 posts)These debates would have far more credibility if they didn't use moderators with big ties to main stream media outlets.
And especially moderators who already have a reputation for being agenda driven, like Chris Wallace.
And fact checking should be mandatory.

Best, best thoughts and wishes to Hillary.

(1,089 posts)It's not as if my vote is in question. I just cannot stand looking at or listening to that vile man anymore. I really can't. It leads to a level of disgust that's simply unhealthy.
I'll put my energy into helping HRC win in different ways. Rooting for her in a debate - where she will only be declared the winner if Drumpf craps on the stage and throws his feces at the moderators - is to me an exercise in frustration best avoided.

(5,045 posts)To be clear, watching or not watching will not effect the outcome of this election. Hell, it won't even effect the outcome of the debate! Donating, knocking on doors, making phone calls, offering rides to the polls in November - those things will make a difference. Feeding advertisers and networks? Not so much.
