2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI'm really excited about Hillary. Have been...
... for the whole campaign. I find her smart, steady, compassionate, and, for what it's worth, even though the pundits may find it hard to believe, I find her the public figure I'd most like to have a beer with. Objectively she's super experienced. She has some very exciting policy ideas.
I'm just posting this because I'm so sick have having her defined as "not Trump."

(112 posts)I am sick of the "she's flawed but better than trump on policy" on the tv too. How many male candidates for anything do you ever hear talked about in that way, regardless of how sleazy everyone knows they are. Well, like trump, for example. Does anyone on tv ever start a sentence with "he's flawed, but....". No, they don't.
I like and respect and admire Hillary. She is, in my view, A Woman for all Seasons.
Anyone remember that movie, about a Man for all seasons, of course.

(81,127 posts)Yeah, I remember "A Man for All Seasons." Terrific movie! And I could see Hillary called "A Woman for All Seasons." She's that remarkable a figure.
I don't drink beer, so I wouldn't ever have a beer with her. But a cuppa coffee? ABSOLUTELY! Or tea, or brunch, lunch, breakfast, dinner, snack, a bagel, quiche, salad, candy bar, pizza, burgers, sushi, donuts, cake, pie, ice cream, frozen yogurt...

(22,665 posts)I'm a HFA volunteer within my family. Data entry, because I type fast and accurately. I volunteered the last four elections too, two generals, two mid-terms. Just a couple hours here and there, really makes a difference and makes me feel good to have contributed.
Whether youve got a half hour to help enter some voter data or an entire day to spend knocking on doors, we need you!

(21,739 posts)I get a kick out of her laugh, and she is a good person.
On the other hand, if Trump (or anyone like him) were seated next to me in a restaurant, I would ask for my check and promptly leave.

(15,365 posts)because the best qualified candidate - probably ever - is also a woman who has fought for women and children throughout her entire political life and who will make a remarkable President of these United States.

(4,187 posts)has simply accepted the right-wing rhetoric against her and has not bothered to look into the facts. This is an amazing woman who is truly a good person. Here are two articles that made me excited about her candidacy:

(13,769 posts)... PhD dissertations will be written about this time. She was answering a question about whether she's treated differently as a woman.

(1,630 posts)She, like Obama, has composure. She has grace under fire and can be trusted to make thoughtful and well considered decisions. And, when she has decided on a particular course of action, it is because she has studied the situation and consulted the very best advisors before doing so. She respects and values the opinions and ideas of others, truly listens and knows "it takes a village".
She does not have time to hold petty grudges because she always keeps the larger goal in mind. She is brilliant and approaches challenges with the unique ability to see the big picture as well as all the details. Her focus and determination put ideas into action and make positive changes actually happen. The people who work with her invariably say they truly like her and that she is a pleasure to work with. She has a great sense of humor and often laughs at herself. When she makes mistakes, she admits that and apologizes for it. But she is human, and leads with her head and her heart and never apologizes for that. That makes her an example to us all.
She absolutely loves this country and the people in it and will to do everything she can to keep us safe and make the lives of everyone better. We are lucky to have her as a candidate!
